If a 1300 Piper cam gives an extra 10HP to a 1.3,

And a standard 1.3 cam supposedly gives an extra 10hp to a 1.2 engine...

Would the piper 1.3 cam give an extra 20hp to a 1.2 engine ?

1. where did you get that info from?
2. you wouldn't get 10 hp on a 1.3 with a cam alone,
3. you will get about 1-2 hp from sticking a 1.3 cam on a 1.2, you will get more with a full service.
4. if you stick the piper cam on a std old unrebuilt 1.2, you will probably get about 4-5 hp if you are lucky...

Velos had 5bhp up on a std (tired) 1.2 with a std 1.3 cam. I believe their numbers.

Its not a case of adding numbers up to get the final answer though, as you'd have loads of 500bhp 1.2's about lol

Well in the 1.2 8V tuning guide it says the 1300 SR cam gives an extra 10HP.

And i went onto the PiperCams website and it says that this 1.3 piper cam gives an extra 10-12 HP.

So what if i put that cam onto my 1.2, which isnt FULLY rebuilt, but its cleaned up, new gaskets, filters, oil, plugs etc.. Basically 'serviced'

if a GT6x takes a low compression skyline engine from 150ish to over 1k bhp, if I bolt it into a 1.6 will I have the fastest nova ever?

and people talking sh!T like the above doesnt help lolthats fair enough but its plain common sence that fitting a cam to a 1.2 is never ever going to give you 30% more power

Its not common sence until someone tells ya.

If i dont know anything about engines how am i supposed to know that.

Anyway i take it now it wont give the 20hp i thought it would.

lewi, if you want 20 hp gain, find a 1300 or 1400 bottom & then rebuild it properly, as in rebore, crank grind, new oil pump & seals.

then you end up with a bottom end that will last for 100000+ miles.

I cant, i have to stick with a 1.2 for cheapest insurance as possible and just want to make a few tweaks to it rather than leave it standard.

I have a 1600 8V engine here but im not going to use it because i dont want to declare it.

im sure a 1600 in a 1.2 shell is cheaper to insure than a gte/gsi...mainly due to the fact that the car itself is cheaper to fix than a gte (bumpers, etc)

or is that ****?

Standard GTE/GSi is cheaper as it's insured as the same car, but without the non standard engine declaration. My old 1.2/1.6 insurance stated it was a nova GTE with non standard engine/bumpers/interior etc
