hey im back again with more electrical problems, i have my xe in but when i turn the ignition key there is no spark from the ignition coil

i had this coil pluged in as its the one that came with the engine, what is the need for the metal plate??
this coil didnt work as it was a bit beat up i thought id use another coil

so i had a coil from my old 2.08v which i knew worked as i only took it out of the car recently. the coil plugs on each loom were different so i cut the plug off the 8v loom and spliced it onto the red and blue wiring coming from the redtop plug but its no different than the other coil

both coil's are getting power to the + and - on the coil but arent getting any power from the coil though the HT lead and into the distibutor.

anyone know why...have i something wired up wrong as like ive said it is getting power to the coil just not out through the ht lead and into the distributor:confused:

I could be wrong but isn't the bracket also an earth? Have you tried a different amplifier?

Does the loom have both lives connected? as in black one in the bay and the red on on the battery?

i think your right as i thought it had to earth off the body but aint sure thats why im asking

its just two spliced wires together, i had to do this to try other coils as ive no module with the other coils

i havent bought another module because if i buy one and it still dont work then ive wasted money.

but looks like im going to have to buy one incase that is the problem, cheers lads:)

I had a Mercedes "Star" computer plugged into mine. The bitch wouldn't fire. Not even a puff of smoke. I'd removed the injector pump and re-timed it four times. Then while laying underneath checking out a fuel shut-off valve - a case of 'ere, wot's this plug danglin' down there...... doh!!!!

The second time it had shaken loose after I'd had the head off for a repair.
