stering rack

is it possible to re new the stering rack bushes without removeing the stering coloum

May have to loosen the brackets right off til they're held on by a couple of threads, but then the rack may move.

Woudn't have thought it'd move far if it's still attached to the column. Remove the bolt attaching the column joint to the rack pinion and you should be able to slide the rack out with the column in place.

Piece of piss, ive personally done a rack on my mates old GSi with the column in situ, did it on a gravel drive with one jack and no axle stands, made it interesting and took us a day to do but did it and i managed to track it up to -/+ 1mm on either side when he tracked it up at a local garage the next day:thumb:

Dont try it on a xe'd nova as one of the bolts is a right ar5e as its behind the gearbox.
Possible but very annoying..
