errr well we live in the middle of nowhere, and this company called nextgenus have just gone round the whole vilage, and put a dedicated cable for every house, then run that to the nearest source of fibre (about 4 miles away)

so its all their doing. http://www.nextgenus.net/

Whereabouts in Lincs are you if I can ask?

We can't even get Broadband via the phone line, so I'm stuck with using a Satellite dish and a dongle, so I want to speak to the company who installed this for your village.........

Thanks.

Colin

yeah we have fibre all the way. we have about 50 houses in the village, s they have layed a dedicated fibre to each house from the central hub, then layed one fook off big one a few miles down the road to the nearest place with fibre.

it cost £150+vat to install, and its £30 a month

i'm in Ashby de la Launde, and it was done by NextGenUs, Colin, the only site i can find for them at the moment is their blog: clicky (http://nextgenus.blogspot.com/).

they only came here because we asked them to, so send them an email and they will probably come round your village and give a presentation, and if there is enough interest they will go ahead. they do a wi fi system too if fibre isn't practicle

Ohhhhhhhhh it does my napper in believe me, seriously same as the mobile phones, there are 4 of us in the house on Orange and no one can use their phones anywhere in the house apart from the very far corner of the kitchen, and then it cuts off at least 6 times per conversation...

What a headache!! :)

Thats a damned good price IMO - especially when you consider BT charge something like £120 to connect you to an existing phone line!

Bubba
20-11-10, 01:19 PM
are BT the only company who own the lines? since 99% of things say "you need a BT landline"

Jack

Its to do with the exchange, so you're not on LLU kit

I agree its a very good price. that includes a router as well lol

forgot to day, its a 'dig your own' scheme, where in you dig a trench, lay a thin pipe from your boundary to your house, and bury it again. then they come round, lay their big thick fibre and connect averyone to it, then blow the fibre through later.

it works well in Ashby because we are just one street, with houses down each side, and fields behind, which the farmer said they could lay the fibre in.

Ben

I also think that was a bargain!
