and a pic with my motor included so you can tell I know him. not a big claim I grant you, but I sense a non-believer in the force.

The Dolly is a fun machine! Will be better with EFi and then a 4.5. :)

Neither does he lol. This guy is the epitome of form over function.

We've had a few sweet off the lights fishtailing moments with his vs mine. Juts like Vanishing Point... lol

The bark it makes is great, and it's the ultimate 'old sh!tter' to smoke Mr 10 plate HP lol

Bonus parts of my donor Volvo 940 turbo can be seen in his engine bay too. lol

the dolly was by far the coolest triumph.. the tr7 & 8 were not nice, the stag is out of proportion, even though squadrons of retired civil servants in leather flying jackets try to bully the classic car fraternity into liking them........ the 2000 series was pretty good, but the dolly is spot on... i know where there is a sprint automatic parked up & not moved in years.... ah well etc.

The owners club would cry/probably know of that Sprint.

I'd have a manual one no problem at all, but after driving a V8 it's not going to compare in anything bar handling stakes IMO, and I'd be more interested in the straight line speed in something like that.

I was disturbed to see an MG ZR in my rear view mirror the other week, I couldn't help noticing how it had same face as a Dolly.

I still mourn the loss of my dad's HL. Tut, if that was still here, I wouldn't have a crappy Nova lol

lol. Oh yeah, I meant to link the build thread. Although it would have been the one from RR.

Carbs yes. It had worse ones to start with. Shall be EFi soon enough.
I have a lot of respect for it though, as it was built on a shoestring.

Mike, I was almost as excited as you when I saw the hose - and he hasn't even got a trade card! lol

I've not seen a rover V8 engine in years, my dad built an off road trials land rover with one in it with an offenhouser ( sp ) inlet and a holly 4 barrel carb, can't remember the cam ( issky or something ) it was an animal lol

when I was a young boy a neighbour had a brown dolly with a vynal roof. Strange I remember it as i was very young.

Maybe the first mass production 16V

Bentley were running 16V per cylinder in the 30's

yup, i'd agree with the mass produced car 16v, certainly the first with one camshaft!!!

and the family of engines was designed at ricardo, as a joint venture with saab, thus the 99 & early 900 turbo is a cousin of the dolly engine.....cue roth & saab turbo transplant info....
