yeah i dont think its as simple as plunking it from an o.e gearbox; hence theyre premium price..

Yes it is. You just need a bit of luck finding a car/van to get it from.
I've managed to get three over the years all from 1400 petrol Astramax vans. Don't tell the scrapie what your after or he'll bump the price up, two of mine were £30 and one £40 all of which we're eventually sold on for over £100 each.
There seem to be a lot more cars with them in these days. There is nothing different about these from any other CWP in the F10/13/15 range the prices were all the same last time I looked. They are a direct replacement for any other CWP.

ye i know you can buy them seperate from the box, we have looked down that route, found out they were around 200-250 new from vaux.
my mate owns a scrap yard/ breakers so getting one second hand cheap isnt a problem just need to know wat car im looking for lol. i have been told that some of the daewoos have a 4.5 final drive!
steg1970- what engine you running in your nova rally car? were running a 1.6 16v in a corsa b sport. weve got a 4.2 in the box as it is, but fancy a bit more.
many thanks glen.
note that some F15's (later ones) will have an F20 style FD where the pinon gear is part of the output shaft.
Gareth, that list is very very very very hugely imcomplete and wrong lol
i think the 1.0 12v corsa is a good place to look, i was told the 4.53 fd is used in some of them.
Any F10 equipt Corsa B is a wise place to look

Fancy a bit more what, top end or in gear acceleration? I was always told that on the longest straight on an event you are hitting the limiter 3/4 of the way along it your gearing is right, to a greater or lesser extent. If you find your never flat out i.e. rev limiter in top your gearing is too long and conversly if your spending ages sat on the rev limiter your gearing is too short.
I use a 1400 8V which is just the 1300S motor bored to suit 1200 pistons which gives 1397cc, producing around 86bhp ATW more importantly it has good low down torque. I use a Quaife F13 SCCR synchro box with a 4.86CWP and 14" wheels with 185/55 equivilant tyres, great on the twisty stuff but on long straights (400m or more) we're on the rev limiter at 7500rpm but within the rules I stated above.

steg1970- were after better accelaration, less top end. we do night events in wales, so the roads are really quite twisty.
