Hi new to the site and new to vauxhalls had mainly Fords and Volkswagens.

Bought this today off a member so you will all know it well. Really happy with it last owner has done loads to it always wanted a nova hatchback but loved the look of this saloon and was only round the corner.

The main job to do is fit a bigger engine as the 1.2i 4 speed isnt quick enough for me. Its been fitted with Cav Gsi front brakes so its ready.

A redtop is out of the question as need it to be reliable and cant really afford the cost of buying a redtop and getting it fitted.
So this is what i hope someone can help with im thinking cav 1.8 or 2.0 8v engine as over xmas im going to keep a look out on ebay for a cheap whole car so i have everything.

What engine would you reccomend that will drop in easily without any headaches and what will i need exactly loom, gearbox etc?

Also if somebody has one for sale let me know and if there is anyone that could do the conversion for me i will pay them.

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't fitting the 20NE/SEH the same as fitting an XE?

Why not throw an E16SE in there instead?

why not put in a 1.6 16valve? Its easier and cheaper?

What i was going to say, 1.6 16v, 100bhp straight out the box and can make up to 140-150bhp without mega monies. No need to worry about shafts, mounts, gearboxes or any of that. Just about 9 wires which are easy. Plenty of corsa's about to nick the engine from too, Cheap to pick up, newer than a XE/8v.
Buy all the bits, bring it over here to essex and have it fitted in a weekend.

I do like this nova though, Not usually a fan of 4doors but white makes it so cool.

C16XE = Corsa B GSI
X16XE = Corsa B sport

X18XE1 = Astra MK4 and Vectra B iirc (its a different engine to x18xe and z18xe)

I would personally go for the x18xe1, its a small block so will go in without hassle and got more power than the 1.6s as standard
