It's been pulled by their publishers along with the website, apparently it'll still be around in a sort of series of one off specials etc.

Won't notice it all to be honest, think I bought about 2 in the last 10yrs but I do have stacks in the loft from the 90's full of novas etc.

Shame they changed their format it arguably built (and tarnished, haha) the nova.

i say good riddance its bin nothing but **** for last 5-10 years, it used to be the best, but now its nothing more then stupid rich boys who pay somebody else to modify there car for them, its everything that is wrong with the modified car coulter, ppc and total vauxhall are proper mags for proper car enthusiast, check them out :)

yeh its a bit like "mummy bought my 1.4 306...and then paid some guy to make it 6 inches wider 4 inches lower and 100% more mincer with awsome chrome 18s."

I buy it every now and then, worst of all the mags though.
Redlines the best of all the performance mags IMO, for tuning anyway
Every car in Max is 2 tonnes of fibre glass and has been for the last ten years

Edd

All car mags are crap now IMO all to do with modern days cars, modifying modern day cars has become a bore, wheels, coilovers and a remap makes very dull reading

I'll have a look out for it, but with the average price of a mag being £5 I'd probably not buy it

When I started buying car mags it was Fast car that I bought every month, that was in 93 when I started my paperound, lol but I've only bought tv recent except when Ammir (sp) was featured in fast car recently, but I'd did buy Max Power when there were Novas in there every month

r.i.p to the old max power, used to love the cruise write ups from around here in the old days, havent brought it in over 5 years id say, just shows some things do die with age, even went to max power live a few times in the days of delta bodykitted novas and 100 tubs of filler rovers and fiestaslol

fast car mag created a sub section called power & style, which then created Max Power......

CCC was the king of all mags... they had new car reports, motorsport articles, a really good tech section & readers cars...... then it finally disappeared to become some crappy track day mag....

ppc is the best of a poor lot imo. Will Holman, the editor & his mates used to work at practical classics, and upset the old car readership before setting up on their own..... some of it is ok, but most of the big articles are subbed in from abroad... and tbf, an old rover with a 27L tank engine is hardly practical, neither is a rolls royce track car....

Heard about this yesterday as my mate who runs the local car/krooze club are all in tears as theyre in bed with them, or at least they were lmfao:thumb:

Not bought an issue of that in about ten years, its crap these days so thats probably why theyve gone under, not everyone wants to see japcrap every month!

I was actually reading max power's new issue last night at work and thought even by their standards it was VERY crap. Full of fat skanky birds and awful cars. Had no idea it was coming to an end though, finally.

Says somethin when Emap drop a mag. They're huge..... and some of the mags they publish are very small scale. ...the mag that brought Vicky Butler-Henderson and Tom Ford to the public domain.

IMO they should have dropped Lax Bowels years ago though.... instead of dropping the more down to earth/realistic/cheaper Revs mag.

R.I.P Cruise Patrol. lol

They loved us. I remember Sunderland gaining extra points due to the presence of the police helicopter. That must have been at the blockyards. All I know is I couldn't get down there (used to go with mates bro sometimes) as I was still in school. lol

I just realised, this isn't the original RIP Max post. Now it looks like I like it. lol

I used to, from it's beginnings up until 97/98. I never by car mags now and haven't for years, with the odd exception for TV, Jap Performance, Banzai, PPC, Classic/Old Skool Ford.
Think airport reading material. lol

Max power has always been cheesy rubbish. I've only bought a few issues over the years due to extreme boredom n maybe a long train ride!

Max power was always at the butt of our jokes, ha ha look at that maxxer, o mate that's been maxxed! For example!!

I remember them coming to the fezzy park cruises years ago before i could even drive, i used to go up with a few older lads, used to get ramned up there

O well, end of an era I suppose!

FLOL the only real interaction I had with mags like that was to a) label cars as max power shoite, and b) laugh at what toss they had in each month no the shelves of WHSmiths

Classic American is my choice mag these days. Mainly due to subject matter though. American Car World is pretty good too, in fact I think its them who are running a Camaro cover at the mo and have a reaaaallly nice red Super Bee inside

for tech articles, i find some of the kit car mags are pretty good.

but there is a problem in the car industry in that most newish stuff is only possible to modify by paying loads to someone to re-map it, and that doesn't make for exciting reading.....(see reg & al's cars in tv etc...) and the stuff that can be modified well is getting rather old & a lot of it has been done already...

so you are left with body mods.... and for me, it is as exciting as watching paint dry.....

either it will end up like the states, where people spend big bucks on siomething 40 years old, or tuning shops are going to have to work a lot harder & invest in computer technology, cos webers & a cam are just not going to do it on new stuff.

Magazines will all be looking to go Digital in the future.

iPad and other tablet computers are awesome for viewing digital magazines, give it a few years and your mag subscription will just download onto your tablet.

Plus new cars already have a lot of the stuff you would have to buy yourself before. Most cars are pretty low now with decent suspension, come with alloys as standard, have tinted windows, clear indicators, good stereo and interior etc. When so much comes as standard anyway, any modified items have to be over the top to make the car seem different - and the huge bumpers and spoiler look doesn't seem to be in fashion.

I haven't bought a car mag in years, spending £4 or £5 on a magazine that I'll read half of at most, seems like a waste of money to me. Money I could be spending on the cars instead, browsing this site is much better!

I used to love this magazine used to buy it when i was about 13 full of nice old hot hatches, rs turbos, cars with massive bodykits and 20inch wheels on saxos lol. Now its about 10 pages thick and full of jap stuff.

I think it's partly a shame that an iconic magazine is falling by the way-side, but on the other hand MAX power played a huge part in driving the fibreglass scene. So I dont know how to feel about it, but way back in the day MAX was a really good read.

Modern cars might be dull to modify, but I remember when the average feature car was just a superchip, KONI's & some TSW's. It was the lairy respray that set them apart, so nothing much has changed IMO. K&N's or Magnex pipes dont qualify as hardcore modding.

Thinking about it, they had to move with the times & tailor themselves to new & up & coming trends. So the mag is never or (shouldnt do) appeal to the readers of 15 years ago, but it doesnt take an idiot to work out that the current scene is dross.

How can a performance car mag keep a straight face when it features 1.0L motors FFS!
