View Full Version : C16 block question
Where is the crank sensor located?
Any pics will gain rep thanks
( tried searching but no specific pics)
End of the block above the oil pump I think
This in relation to your 1600 turbo engine ?
Yes edd, as it'll be aftermarket management I'll be going coil pack, so it's either C16 block or mod mine or fit the one on the crank pulley idea.
Mmmm I hadn't thought about that for mine tbh, but I know fook all about management tbh lol
Do all need a crank sensor then ?
Not if your doing the microswitch route, You should be fine, tommy/ Wilson / CG's engine isn't coilpack iirc so no trigger shell required
Was thinking m-tech for the management, switch is a lil pikey really lol
No idea how to get a crank sensor on a 13 sb block lol
Ask Novacabrio :) the sport he rebuilt runs coilpack with a trigger wheel and sensor, had a look at it on Sunday there, very nice car indeed.
Cheers I will, think I better concentrate on getting it all back together first tho lol
I know what my plan is for the bodywork and while I can't work on it I'm turning my attention to the block, I've been looking online and actually trigger wheels and sensors don't cost much so I'll scrap the C16 block route.
16v's have the crank sensor on the pully, IIRC the C14SE's and C16SE's do too?
Cool that would be easier if it were external,
Edd try this one,

There were a few but iPhone of fail ATM
If needed i can get a decent pic. Only got this rubbish pic atm lol

You can see it though.
That looks as tidy as my garage lol
Hmmm scrapy run I recon lol
cheers alex,
I'll need to find a c16 owner and ask to confirm but if the 16v is like that I can't see the older engine being much different.
I remembered about 7ovas gsi and it looks like it's all good, cheers stu, alex and Edd :)

The crank sensor is held on to the oil pump using a m6 bolt IIRC. I have a few x14 and x16 blocks here with the brackets still on them if you need one.
a place called orchard engineering do something simmilar http://www.orchard-engineering.co.uk/#/product-gallery/4543038260
there you go C16se crank sensor :thumb:

:) Thought that was the case as the single V's some people need for the baby 16v conversion.
And Edd, that is at its tidiest, You can actually see the engine lol
Cheers stu, I used that pic for my wanted add lol
Compton I'll pm you in a min.
