Without starting at rant about a whole religion I'd say that in a time where the Government are cutting public spending, axing jobs and are about to raise the VAT rate, which will financially cripple a lot of us...

Surely a one time fee of abducting Islamic fundamentalist morons such as these and bunging them on a boat bound for the Middle East is surely a price we'd all gladly pay. Hell, I'll chuck £20 in if they're that strapped for cash.

Ahh.... Dialy Mail.... home of the right wing middle classes!

As an open minded ol git could I add my 50p worth.....
Govt cuts - Whitehall has got f.all money.

Thanks to the city boys irresponsible lending against the future, which arrived when they found out property had not done as well as they thought it would.

This left a lot of banks in a great deal of debt. A big bank with a big debt is a MAJOR threat to the stability of the nation. As a government, you can not allow this. To prevent this, you must buy the bank.

In buying the banks, the debt was effectively transferred to the Government. Which is why they now have zero money.

The alternative was that several banks collapsed.... the result would have been like hitting a blancmonge with a cricket bat!! A fookin mess.... every where. Imagine if your £4800 of savings just went bye bye. Aint no gettin it back. What if your employers bank went.... aint no wages bro. + they cant pay bills = company in to administration.

So thats why HMG has zero money. Now, they have to slow down spending and try and get some coins back in the pot.

In raising VAT, all they are doing is bringing us in to line with the rest of Europe. It adds an extra 2pence to fuel @ 120ppl.

Students.... up until the last Conservative goverment, students got sweet FA! Thatch introduced social mobility and allowed kids from poorer backgrounds to go to college and university. (eg. MEEEE!!!) Until that time only the well off went to uni.

Somehow student tuition has to be paid for. HMG does not have enough money for it.... who pays????

Also, Thatch massively upped the amount of money doleys got! Until 1979 the unemployed got barely more than a poke in the eye!

The windfall Thatch stumbled up on was North Sea oil.... it had just begun to flow and the revenue began to flow in too. Unfortunately, that oil field is now drying up = aint no money comin in no mo.

Re the rememberance day debacle.... I believe in a fair right to protest. However, THAT should have been a silent protest.... feel free to wave your banners... so long as theres no noise.

There again, you could say the content of some of their banners is treacherous. Treachery still carries the death penalty!

It does also demonstrate their absolute blinding stupidity in completely failing to understand the objectives of HM armed forced in Afganistan!

And the EDL..... If I am not mistaken, the initial idea behind its formation was a good one. They even had Islamics wanting to join IIRC. Unfortunately a load of thugish racist types saw it as a good band wagon to jump on (considering BNP is going down the pan) and hijacked it for their own agenda!

I was under the impresison that bar norvern rock most had paid back a large chunk of what was borrowed.

Ernie, rants are permitted, just sometimes folks on here can get the wrong end of the stick and it turns ugly... it was a forwarning to others rather than directly to you ;)

Norfic Rock are still partly government owned though aren't they? I haven#t really kept up on them of late - I paid my loan back so did my bit to help the government lol

As for the demo, I think thats a pretty poor show tbh. The remembrance day shenanigans are primarily in remembrance of WW1, of which I don't recall any Muslim interaction (directly). Unfortunately the paper has given them just the publicity they want, epsecially when you consider any publicity is good publicity. Sure they'll get people irate and angry, but thats their intention (by "their" I refer to the small number of radicals, not the mainstream Muslim population) - turn the people against them so they have a reason to hate.

Exactly.

Now this has been publicised what's the bet there is a large increase in attacks on Muslims?

Ah Scotland.... the only place football gets involved in religious intolerance!!
(and the only place Coca Cola is not the number 1 soft drink)

As ever, its only a small faction of Celtic fans that do this. There was a similar demo last year.... during the minutes silence a small number number held up banners or walked out of the stadium.
