Right need abit of advice as most people are stumped about this, the car only runs (ok) when the battery light comes on ( new battery ) I have to rev to a high rpm for this to happen, half way through my journy I get a strong wiff of petrol, not checked fuel lines yet, just replaced fuel filter still the same, the engine management light is on, petrol is reading empty when driving , half when stood in traffic?

it might sound daft but drive around the block with your fuel cap off and see if its any better!

Have you flashed the codes off the engine managemant light?
Do this will give a better idea of whats wrong.

jump lead, clip it onto the top of the engine, like the inlet mani, and direct to the EARTH side of the battery.
