Hi my names steven am 21 from cumbria and have started to build this nova to mainly do some 1/4 miles and compete at totb.
Hears whats happened so far to bring you up to speed.
I bought the car in june this year as a standard mk2 1.2 merit.
But i have no pictures of this because at the time i had no intrest really because i had my other nova.
so this is what it looked like the day i finished the conversion.

Then i wanted to get some weight out of it so decided to take every thing out the back.
When a dont this a didnt want it a mess so removed all the rubber bungs and welded the holes up then i welded the holes up for the fuel pump wires and sender wires.
Also i removed all the seat brackets and smoothed every thing, then gave it a coat of high built primer and half a litre of flame red.
Also i lengthen the sender and pump wire and fed them though the offside sunroof bung under the back light.

That was it prity much up to date to i had a bit of a play in it and the head gasket went.

and the gasket just blew in to a water way.
Had head checked all flat and no warps niether is the block and it didnt get hot when it went because i noticed it in time.
So i have ordered a head set off autovaux and my heads been sent away to be ported and polished (al post before and after pics when its back)

Shame about the headgasket but at least now you'll be doing some freshening up and getting it fit again.

And i bought a won nitrous kit ages ago also a minimax to control the gas .
At first am just going to use a 40bhp jet then move up to a 80bhp if i havnt cracked the 11s quarter mile.

Two 11lb bottles am going to paint stripper the red one and polish them.
the kit is still missing a bottle bracket and the pipes which doesnt matter because the pipe isnt dear and i want to mount the bottles on the cage in the window and you carnt buy off the shelf brackets.

these are my two previous time slip with plenty of things to look in to to be quicker.
I was launching in second, the surface was **** and no diff.
so next year with some 215 50 15 r888s and a quiffe diff and the pod with gas should see and 11.

Still waiting for my head set of autovaux there now starting to wind me up its been a week today and still nothing been on the phone three times and it should of been hear today.
Am in no way slaging them off mind because normally there very fast and the bits are a1.

trust me pal mines in just as a1 as any shell out it hasnt got a spec of rust anywere and the only welding its had is for the stitch welding and hh plate kit.

Right so tonight a thought a needed to start putting it back together if am to make the rr day saturday.
I bought new head bolts, head set, cam belt and had the head ported and polished on a flow bench (not just guessing).

The ports have been opened up 3mm all the way round and have been smoothed to a mirror finish.
so a got that back at 3 but didnt get home to 6:30 so started to put it together.

then a put the gasket on then the head with new bolts and torqued it down.

so a got back to it today fitted the intercooler, front bumper, grill, alternator belt and changed the oil and filter.

Engine all back together and started first time.
All i need to do now to get it back on the road is change the heater matrix tomorow night and give it a clean and polish.
Then this saturday am going to a local rolling road day so will update saturday night with a graph.

A got the heater matrix changed then when a filled it up with water the radiator was leaking on the end tank so off to the scrap yard for another got one that looked like new but after fitting it found a little crack in the core so thats the job ****ed for saturday rr day:mad:

Got no pics as of yet just been painted and looks like a mk1 gte rep fitted spax rsx coilovers and smoothed the bay will get some pics tomorow.
