New here, looking to get a nova, not sure how long it'll be but thought i'd jump on the bandwagon and say hi until then :thumb: after a mk1 for a gte rep, hopefully running an XE. had a few projects in the past that have all gone well but no vauxhalls, so hopefully the nova should go well too :)

Thanks :) just wondering about depreciation of value in novas.. i need something to keep for a couple of years until me and my gf set off to uni together, if i bought a nova for around £1300, then spend £1500 on it late next year, think il be looking at getting atleast 2.5k back ? (clean build, caged, Xe'd) or will i lose out on more than it's worth ?

Civics, crx's and a few old skool fords mainly mate :) oh and a couple of frenchies :( one of them had a re-build from the ground up by myself including a respray, refurbed alloys and a rebuilt 1400 engine just before i got my license ready for my 17th lol

Hai and welcome!

Unfortunately novas are always worth more in bits than whole lol however it all depends on the quality of the build/parts used etc.

lol Its hard enough finding one that's worth putting the money into. Im half tempted to buy something to keep longer (04/05 plate) but i always look at novas and my mind changes back quick enough.

Iv looked at a few XE's, 1.5k to 2.5k. Basically need something that i will be able to swap for a astra gsi, something newer/reliable for when i set off to uni, if a nova wont do that i might have to chuck the idea away :( iv wasted too much money on cars, iv gone back to square one and doing it step by step correctly from here

I personally think you'd struggle to see £2500 back from an XE, unless it was minty fresh and had a few unique ideas or special parts. Mind you, as they die out the values will go all over the place.

I can't complain, mine only owes me about a grand. Not bad for 210bhp (on a good day lol)

Hmm  I'll have to see. I just need to try and pay for my next few cars with one, if you get what i mean. One car that will match the 2.5k value (or close enough) to the next few cars i want (which are all in same budget) so i can just swap or sell and buy the next straight away. I worked it out and i lost out on about 4.2k over the last 3 years driving

as long as its looked after, it would be as reliable as any other car :) plus if needs be parts are cheaper too ;)

It'll be looked after :) An XE might be a bit too much for running around Brighton town or Newquay in at uni though, but when i go home itl come in handy on the motorways lol There's no other car i want for the budget though (i've gotta spend it in two parts) If i keep it long enough its probably where my student loan will go aswell lol
