Thats really good power, what management did you use? I did have an xr3i i partly restored, efi with gsxr bodies.

Lol yeh my fiesta has massive chatter, but it has a T3, only running 10psi due to actuator, but it i chipped and ready for more boost, but i wont bother, ive only driven it once this year, and im sure that will be the last. Its been restored professionally, so its just sat in my mates shed now.

No i should of done really, ive not touched it yet, other than helping my mate put it back together, but since my ownership ive not spent a penny.

It doesnt run hot if driven normally, but if its booted for quite a while it will get hotter. But the turbo sits about 10mm away from the radiator. Was thinking about getting a jacket for the turbo, but im not spending anything on any of my cars now, im through with wasting money on cars! Lol

S2's and XR3i's had softer suspension and had different front roll bars.

Also the XR's had no LSD as standard.

As you said a matter of opinion I suppose...

next on the list is clean and paint the gearbox then its lift in time(the best bit)
by the way the rocker cover sat on is a temp im getting a crackle black one

well a update as such, spent a few hour cleaning and prepping my gearbox,

first of all obviously cleaned, then primed, then black metallic basecoat then was time to lacquer,
though had a crazy idea to keep to the blue black theme id add a dash of arden blue into the lacquer to give it a blacky/blue pearl look,
though added a slight bit too much of blue and wasnt what i was intending for but kinda looks good i can repaint it very easily just after some opinions really, thanks for following

no worries i think ive killed the nova its spat all its oil out round oil pump and tapping from top end though oil was on minimum still,im hoping its the oil pump give and lost pressure to the top:cry:

I absolutely love Series 1s, Tom Scarlett's mental track build did it for me but I love the interior too much to have anything other than a fast road car. Ford got these absolutely bang on :d just a shame they followed it with the S2 :( looks cracking work what you've done so far mate, keep it up!!

Going back to Tom's S1...I loved the imperial blue RS1600i rocker cover he did with polished fins and Ford Motorsport logo. Just means changing the inlet etc

well after a bit of headscratching and lifts in and out,and a combination of a mk3/mk4 hybrid its in,
excuse the wiring its just sat on top as we was looking through to see what we dont need and is the next on the cards
next few things i have planned are
the hoist is only still on as the arb has a mount for the gearbox front and it is easier to fit shafts with this off and easier to work on temporarily

strip wiring all old mfi wiring
fit shafts
refit arb setup inc front box mount
plumb the fuel pipes in
powdercoat rocker cover
plumb the water and boost up
refurb gear linkage
strip my efi harness and retape neat
refit my wiper motor and heater blowerhttp://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk100/davidfox280585/escorts/21012011428.jpg

well ive surprised myself really with this as ive got a fair bit done, including tweaking my brake offset slightly as caliper brackets were catching discs, engine and box in,gear linkage refurbed and tensioned and greased,
arms all tightened up gears on most hoses on alternator refurbed and on,starter refurbed and on,new focus power lead with extra earthing hopefully sat on its wheels again todayready for my handbrake cable and sort my fuelling out,
im considering running a late spec xr3i mk4 tank as these have inbuilt fuel pumps which are much neater and means i can uprate it cheaply, looking at running a daewoo nexia pump again just need to find out if the lph is good enough,id presume it would be running 4.2bar pressure,
pics later thanks for looking

Looking good mate, but not a fan of the back lights I'm afraid,
I prefer the softspokes, diamond cuts are like the fords speedlines IMO lol,
the brother had 4 S2 and 1 S1 RST, nice cars, pick of the bunch had T3 hybrid, Mahle pistons, lightend and balanced bottom end, derv box full magnex and good old Ahmed bajoo ecu, fooking rocket ship for a 1.6!!

It got killed by an old codger driving straight through a crossroad and T-boning him :(

as regard earlier post about coloured cars, datapost had a red press car built too :)

cheers lads for the comments, there is a few things im not happy with but its a long term project so i plan on doing a rolling resto sorting the things im not happy with, this means its only off the road a short time as i have owned it for so long i want to use it,
to say the least i have done it all myself not paid anybody, i have built the engine, wiring prep, paint etc etc and all in a lonely dusty garage i dont think its too bad,
i cant afford to pay a bodyshop for a pro job so i will persevere and tackle what i can,

though once i have it finished and using it im planning of building a 2.1 and aquiring either a gt28/30 or a t34 turbo, the management is custom chipped ofab with the chip being a rewriteable motorsport developments 3 bar map sensor and cosworth fuel pressure reg running beiges though i think personally the injectors will be about on there limit now

Ive been searching like mad for one of these, attending donington park this Sunday in the hope that a restored s1 is up for grabs.

after an original motor with original s1 wheels etc, custom model on a c plate. So difficult to find a good one

Lovely car fair play. My mate has one with 200hp goes very well! Always wanted one myself.

davidfox280585
13-09-11, 10:46 PM
gte turbz yes they are hard to drop on, i got this one locally within 600yds to me,i guess it found me as the owner approached me asking if i knew anyone who would be interested, had a look and took it home with me though was a shell,
cossienova, this will be approx 220-250bhp at wheels so hopefully be pretty lively, i have considered selling it as i yearn for a mk2 escort or mk1 or mk2 van but we shall see, i always wanted a s1 rst and after near completing it i kind of after something older now though i have got older, ive built it to a spec i had in my head from when i picked it as a shell few bits left to do yet

davidfox280585
13-09-11, 10:49 PM
oh i cant fit standard wheels unless the front brakes are removed its got focus st 300mm front brakes with saff cosworth rear discs

GTE TURBZ
13-09-11, 10:58 PM
theres a b-plate restored non-custom rst on ph that im contemplating, but really want a custom on a c plate dont know why but think they appear to be more desirable, and the D's u never see up for sale unless u knew someone selling it like in your case.

davidfox280585
13-09-11, 11:04 PM
yes there was a peach on ebay last week, owned by the secretary of the rsoc for years he took 4700 for it, avoid c301 sab thats on there unless you want to do a bit of bodywork as the kits flushed in, abd the c reg one at 3650 looks strange for some reason and the asian guy selling sounds like a dealer,
ive been looking for my mate as hes in the market too

GTE TURBZ
13-09-11, 11:20 PM
theres that one for 7k on ph and i ended up chatting to the guy and he said when he was looking, he want to see c301 sab all the way from scotland to kent, and said he was so peed that he was gonna give the guy a hidding as it was not as discribed in add, acc to he's words, said it was the biggest pile of junk hes seen.

i had not seen the one that went for 4700, since selling the nova 6 weeks ago, ive been looking daily, have not seen 3650 either, where else do u look apart from ebay, ph?

are u a member on series on turbo site, suprised u posted on a nova site, i look from time to time to see whats new as used to visit this site regularly when had the nova, whats ur excuse.

davidfox280585
13-09-11, 11:23 PM
few mates on here and help with there cars, though regardless a nova site theres a select few who appreciate a old ford,
lee aka moza on the s1 forum has just listed his for sale and a very good one with all history but its a non custom but its very very nice

GTE TURBZ

i had an N reg double cab tipper smiley for a few years.... it could do 87mph & no more... we even went down a massive hill on the a14 full tilt trying to get back to the future (88mph) and it wouldn't.. my brother traded it in for a eurocargo tipper....it was excellent, once we'd fixed a few quirks... the previous owner ran a fleet of them on road repairs... he was old school & put a hammer thru the heater housing because he didn't want his blokes to sit in the warm.... and his blokes repaid the favour by shoving some resin cement down the filler neck, so it took 45 mins to fill the tank... and it not only took a fair bit of finding but several hours of removing..

id say they are to be honest i looked for a while for mine at a good price, the thing is the 3 spokes werent a standard fit they were a accessory wheel while the 4 spoke came standard on the rs1600i so there are more 4 spokes around but i have one of those too for my diesel mk4

cheers liamnp, yes its at a friends mums house so its not be who would get the grief it would be her and its not worth loosing the garage space as i just give her electric money for using it

cheers guys and cheers rich you were a great help as always

well here we are,
she is all built up now and after some major hedscratching as to what issue i had it turned out to be a bad joint on my map sensor suppressor and she is now running perfect,
i have a boost issue ie its kicking in too early and the turbo has been advised for my spec i need to run a cosworth turbo!
its making too much boost too early which isnt suitable to the map on my chip so going to replace the actuator and finish a few bits then mot time definately on road next month

well happy

well todays progress,
picked her up after speaking to tony i knew what needed changing etc,
i set the tracking up,
i replaced my -31 actuator and is now holding steady 16 psi! ive adjusted my servo rod but the brakes still seem spongy, is this due to mk3 mondeo calipers and saff discs?

it drives awesome and today was my first ever drive, all i can say is wheelspin galore i am well chuffed with it to say the least, i need to get it back to art engineers for the proper setup as he only gave me a basic setup so i can get tracking, mot etc etc done

mot tomorrow at 10.30 then hopefully post office
