Ive just been for a job interview up in skipton, I hope I get it not just because I need a job but because that road (from clitheroe to skipton, and back again) is absolutely immense! I don't drive it often enough but love every minute of it when I do so, does anybody else no the stretch Im on about? Its wicked!!:thumb:

i used to do a lorry route from clitheroe to stamford, the bit to skipton is incredible & is right up on my list of roads to drive just for the sake of it.

it was fun in a loaded tipper, so it must be great in a car... i'd love to have a go on it at about 6am in june or july before the world gets up

I remember the days when we all used to drive along it at night, in fact there was that time you had the white nova and i was in my saxo going up that hill back from skipton Lol if you remember?

Anyway, im sure in rush hour that would be a crap road, wouldnt be able to overtake and would be constantly getting held up by slow drivers. There seems to be a death weekly on there aswell so more than likely you'll be stuck in serious jams at some point.

Oh yeah! I'd forgot about that haha good times! If I get the job I start at 7:15am so it should be quiet around 7am bar the odd wagon to pick off. I timed myself once in my GSi from the centre of Clitheroe to centre of Skipton and I did it in 17mins, I reckon that can be beaten but a sub 15minute run would be asking alot ha.
I bet it's one different experience in a loaded tipper mind!

Watch out for the traffic cops at night, may even be there early hours of the morning aswell. A few years ago they were catching everybody out, think it's alot quieter now though.

i saw a citroen bx with a caravan flip over about 5 miles east of the cement works..... the debris was everywhere....... the family of 4 got out ok, and just stood there dazed. i know you shouldn't laugh, but it was damn funny.

That be Gisburn then Lad. ;)

Love driving "around Skipton" roads especially the A59 from Skipton to Harrogate as well, spent most of my youth driving the Yorkshire roads wasting fuel.

Yes Southie, the very stretch that Deano's on about was where I first spotted you in the nova if you remember...

I drove that road everyday while I was learning, its still one of my favourite drives even if its only to go skipton for some tesco 99 motion potion haha

yes it is a sick road i have to admit. we should all go over to skipton and meet up sometime there is that massive carpark over there to. it would be a nice drive out.
