A long time without posting updates, but there are a lot.

16sv swap was finished, next came the coilovers, fk street, wheels are ronal turbos on 165/55/15 tyres. The exterior is complete with a retro roof rack, red tinted rear lights, white indicators, aluminium fuel cap and a polish

The interior is done with sr recaros, sr speedo and a ranz steering wheel.

Next are the brakes, the plan are 256 discs with a gte servo. Also needs to be lowered.

For my swing only a few updates, rear gte bumper is the most obvious and i finally found a set of rear opening windows. But several months ago the head gasket broke again (for 3rd time) and i decided no repair because i found a very cheap saloon with 14nv engine in very good condition so i'm going to swap it. It's the white saloon who appear in the photos with my other nova.

I hope you enjoy with the updates

Long time since my latest update.

Firstly my red swing, it has finally the 14nv in, with new head gasket, water pump and all the usual stuff to fix it. Pierburg 2e3 converted to manual starter, it doesn't work so well but better than automatic starter that I hate a lot. Finally the SR recaros have been installed, they look perfect but for daily use they are replaced with their original seats.

http://i39.tinypic.com/anhc07.jpg

Second my beige pergament saloon, no many updates, I bought 256 ventilated discs, goodrid brake hoses, cavalier calipers, new pads and dot 5. I'm still working on it because the gte servo has a leak.

http://i44.tinypic.com/2zduj61.jpg

Also I installed an omp strut brace
http://i40.tinypic.com/6h01no.jpg

And finally, two months ago I bought another 2 door saloon. It's a first year production base model with 12st and 4 gears. It was the most basic saloon avalaible in Spain, here saloon has never offered with 10S.

It was very cheap but with a lot of interior and exterior work cleaning. My plan is to keep it standard, firstly I found the original hub caps on ebay and the original 4 speed knob in a scrapyard. I'm searching the original headrests and the righ mirror

Wow! A very early Mk1 saloon and not a spot of rust in sight. Love this! :d

Speaking of saloons: according to the Opel EPC (electronic parts catalogue) 2-door saloons were made with a factory fitted sunroof. Have you ever seen one in Spain? Or has anyone in the UK ever spotted one? Must be ultra rare!

Yes, I know what are you talking about.

Here in Spain to have sunroof isnt very popular specially in small cars so see one in a corsa is very very rare. I've never seen the type of sunroof you say, only the modern version which slides on the interior. I have one of these from a steffi special edition waiting to be installed in the beige saloon xD

Recently I found a good pic of the early sunroof, I dont know if the owner is member of png

Happy to write here again.

Well, like the last time i'll begin with the red swing, last year the spanish equivalent of MOT revealed that rear breaks have seen better days, anyway I passed. But to an easy pass this year they have to be inspected. The results were obvious, original factory shoes completely wear out, and the drum scrached by the rivets and also leaking brakes cylinders.

So, everything change and refurbished and prepare for other 29 years xDD

http://i61.tinypic.com/29zsym1.jpg
http://i62.tinypic.com/2q8qcdh.jpg
http://i59.tinypic.com/20azcc7.jpg

Sorted that the next step was fit, 7 years later of buying them, the oem electric windows and central locking. No many photos of that and unfortunately due to miss the brakets of the door motors, central locking doesn't work yet (7 years are too much time to remember what i did with them xD) Not a big problem, a mate has a 91' gsi and if i can't find them i would make a copy from his set.

http://i57.tinypic.com/2u8ijbn.jpg

And finally last week the rotor was changed, really made the difference, know the engine runs smooth.

Second, the beige saloon. No much to talk about it, last week arrived the new master cylinder, it's on place, only need a purge of brake lines.

And finally my last toy, the red saloon. Many many changes, and many many hours of cleaning it xDDD

I replace thermostat, a driveshaft gaiter and a full service on the engine.

As you can see there is a huge difference between previous photos. I've changed many broken/bad look things, like the steering wheel frontal, the gear knob, glovebox, light stalk switch, headlamps, rear lights, indicators, front bumper and added passenger side mirror, hube caps, nuts caps, and i'm sure i forget more things.

Finally I discovered rust in the rear quarters, due to an old poor repair.... But doesn't matter so much, it will pass the winter in the garage.

Find the upholstery for the driver seat and a pair of beige headrests it's getting harder than I spected so if anyone have that spares I would appreciate contact with me.

And thats all, hope you enjoy that massive update from overseas

Out of interest, is there any difficulties with someone from the UK buying a Spanish car and then taking it back to the UK, I guess its export but here its easy for a foreigner to buy a car and take it out of the country lol

cuatrolatas
08-09-14, 12:55 PM
I'm sure is harder (mainly more expensive)to buy a car in UK and make it road legal in spain than from spain to UK

Stuart
08-09-14, 03:35 PM
but is the physical act of buying and filling in vehicle agency forms straight forward enough?

Taking foreign cars into Spain is complicated, I have friends of the family there that are thinking of getting hold of a cheap LHD car from the UK. Cars are expensive in Spain, although they could take a British car to spain (as they did with their Accord when they left) it has to be converted with correct headlamps etc in order to remain beyond a certain time frame. But it is far more complicated taking other nationalities of car. There are plenty of LHD/Polish cars for example here in the UK, but it's too expensive/awkward for them to take one back to Spain apparently.

cuatrolatas
09-09-14, 11:18 AM
When you buy a car in spain the buyer have to register it in his region in the delegation of DGT (Dirección General de Trafico), when the buyer is foreign i'm not sure what change in the process because obviously without an spanish adress is quite hard to do that.

But when you want to export a car from spain the only thing you have to do is to de-register it in spain (in the delegation of DGT) so I imagine when you buy a car to export it the first step I said is unnecesary.

Anyway when you buy a car in spain, a contract between seller and buyer must be done, there are a lot of models on the internet.

According to the founder of the company I work for, it is piss easy to have a Dutch car registered (imported) in Spain. Please understand that this applies to Dutch people who also live in Spain (the ones who own a second house down there).
All a person needs is a NIE number (social security number) and an address and Bob's your uncle. you have to deal with some bureaucratic steps which I am not familiar with (Cuatrolatas, can you give any info on this?) and after that, you get Spanish plates. Dutch MoT applies in Spain as well, so there's no immediate need for a retest.

For those who live in Spain but decide to stick to Dutch plates (which is possible if you live there for less than a certain number of months) it is possible to have their car MoT'ed by a Dutch test facility in Spain. Cool.

I have toyed with the idea of buying a Nova in Spain but could not find any information of how to export a car from Spain. Again, Cuatrolatas, is it really hard or is it a piece of cake?
