Hi

Don't know if anyone can help me, I am looking for some decent jacking points for a 1988 GTE which has been passed to my son by his grandmother. He is only 15 and doing this up as a project as it is special to him, if anyone can help me it would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, not entirely sure I understand, are you after sill repair panels?

The front jack point is the outrigger for the chassis leg and similar to the rear, can't be bought unless cut out of another shell, sorry.

Actually the standard jacking points are in the sills, the oval bits clip into the widowmaker

Yup on the point where 3 panels meet, the outer sill the inner sill and the chassis outrigger, at the bottom of the A post, trust me I know how it's put together lol, I'm presuming the chap is talking about the standard wind up jack point,

Ah ok, the way you phrased it I read it as you meaning the middle of that outrigger, where most people use a hydraulic jack.

the point where the outrigger meets the main leg ( call it the inside under the footwell ) is indeed the most common place people use a " trolly " jack, it's not an ideal place to jack,

if this area is rotton then it's a hefty dose of welding required.

And that's why you dont jack on the sills. Sill are only build to be jacked with the Gm jack. As someone said its best to use the chassis out riggers on the floor.

Both can be bought from a panel shop.
