has anyone have any idea of how to fit mud flaps to a mk1 rear bumper? they have the beveled bits on the edge and i dont no how to fit them. could do with pics please.

Hold them where you want, mark, spot through with a drill and job jobbed.

but they wont sit right becuase the edge of the bumper on a mk1 is beveled

Beveled? Wouldnt know TBH, i'm a mk2 man!! Others have fitted to mk1, so cant be an issue.

Having not seen a mk1 bumper up close, what do you mean by beveled?

like where it meets the arch and runs down the back of the wheel its beveled. il upload a pic give me 5min

These the gm copies off ebay? They are rubber so will easily screw to the bumper, even if it is bloody beveled Lol. You have loads if area there to screw them on, it's easy enough to do apart from a bit of trial and error to get them straight.

got them off someone off here dont no whever they are copies or not will be having ago at them shortly.

Genuine GM rear mudflaps have a bracket that come as part of the set, it's a long piece of metal that clamps around the bottom of the inner arch, probably why these mudflaps fetch quite a bit new now as the puts the mudflaps straight, maybe make something similar, can't see them sitting right unless you do.

i just got the flaps nothing else. got them off someone off here. dont know whever they are genuine or copy's though

For the mk1 you need a bracket made up that will hold the flaps so that they're level with the back of the car and not offset outwards

what do you mean by bracket? if i know what to make il have a go
