May have a new job coming and may enable. New daily hack. The problem is, do I get the e46 330ci cab with 4 seats for the whole gang or be selfish and get the z4 3.0 smg, anyone have any positive of bad vibes about either one?

Can't stand the Z4.

335D all the way. A mapped one wouldn't exactly bury the M3 though.

As you know Ive worked with hundreds of both models over the past years and I would opt for the E46 every day of the week Jeff. A 330 has plenty of poke to enjoy whilst you can get the whole family in when needed. The facelifted later versions are definately the better lookers but still command a top end price however if your not after spending much you could be lucky enough to pick an early one for as little as 5k.

cheers for info all, i was hoping Nick would comment, what year was the facelift, the only prob with the 4 seats is the kids destroy everything, that's what made me think of the z4.

For reliabilty and practicality the E39 M5 makes a very good bargain beast these days.

One word of advice, avoid the SMG(Or SSG as it will be on a none M power) transmission like the plague. They are shocking for every day use and cost the earth when they go wrong and it most likely will.

I sold my lovely S4 Bi-Turbo Avant after 3 1/2 years to buy my BMW. The Beemer is leagues ahead in so many ways ;)
