hi,
ive just fully rebuilt my c20xe lump, just at the running in stage at the moment, problem is it seems to hesitate on accelration, then goes, then now & again when you come up to a junction & put the clutch it it stalls, normaly i can get it started again, but tonight it just dident want to start, im hoping maybe it was flodded & it will be ok tommrow, but has anyone got any ideas as to why it might keep doing this.
its got fast road cams which probaly need setting up a bit better & its idling a bit lumpy & low at times, again this could be to do with the cam's, is there anyway of forcing it to tick over a bit higher?

cheers

Has the ECU been mapped for the cams?

It could be the cams confusing the standard management iirc its not very tolerant when it comes to cams, but it also sounds like an intermittant fault with the afm. Have you got an eml? Has you got any fault codes?

Ignore above really - whilst it may affect idle, it shouldnt cut out nor not re-start due to cams...

Sounds like a sensor prob - get the codes flashed.

Or an air leak will cause similar probs....

is it posible to re map a standard ecu then?
ecu light not showing any faults
i will check for air leaks
my thoughts were that it maybe the mixture needs setting or maybe the fuel presure reg is faulty, or could a faulty cts cause these symptoms?

You can map Motronic, yes. But not many people offer it...

Mixture shouldnt need touching, but it depends what spec the cams are - tbh, for the hassle they may cause and the fact you wont really see any gains, I would go back to std.

CTS may cause these problems.

cam's are matched with some other choice mod's;) so im hoping to get some gain out of it,:) all being well, i havent just got the cams.

a few people have mentioned the cts might be at fault, so im going to change that anyway.

Ive fixed a posible air leak between the inlet & tb, one of the threads had striped so i couldent get the bolt tourqed up properly, hoping that will help, but have not had chance to road test as yet.

would a faulty fuel presure regulator cause these symptoms?

cheers

Could also be the idle control valve not working as that is a common fault with them.

ok,
firstly ive managed to cure the hesitent acceleration, by swaping around the ron plug? it seams to pull alot better now, but im still having problems with it stalling. it seems to do it more when you brake with the clutch in while the revs are dropping, basicly when you come up to a junction or stop. ive fixed a posible air leak on the throttle body

tommrow im planning on trying the following

a compression test
try another set of plugs
check the rest of the vacum hoses
try another ecu
then if none of that works start eliminating the fuel injection system ie try another set of injectors & a fuel presure reg.

sound on the right track?

its still ticking over lumpy i have a video to show you all see what you think does it sound like the cams need fine tuning or somthing else?

icv is now a brand new item, idling was realy bad when i first started it so this was sorted a while back. ive also changed the cts last week but no change.
