Im sure this is a common problem so going to ask anyway

My clutch pedal is very very stiff, I'm going to have a minse with it but are there any easy fixes?

It also makes the "frog" noise upon compression.

I've only really noticed after driving my mum's Smart just how stiff the clutch in my car is lol

cable ?? mine was stiff as feel and it was the cable it had broken up inside

replace the cable Matt then see how it is. When was last time cable was done?

Right I'll replace the cable. Never even looked at it personally, so could well be the cable.

the 'frog' noise is normal, i tried wd40 and and the noise came back within a couple of days lol

This is true, all of my cavs have done this, one had average miles, one had unbeleivably low miles, and my current SRi has moon miles and all do/did it lol

my last nova had a brand new vx cable fitted and did the sound after about a month i think.
I would fit a new cable mate as makes it so much easyer.Its only a 10 min job as i changed one in the pit lane wile waiting to go out on track when mine snapped in "stick"

Its probably nowt do with the cable, if the clutch is old it will be the cover plate springs have hardened through use, making it hard to press down.
Obviously worth doing the cable first, due to cost and how easy they are to fit.

And btw, mine doesnt do the "frog" noise :p

many years back my mum bought a mrk2 loon for £50 with tax and ticket and the clutch peddle was that stiff the peddle arm had bent.I fitted a new clutch cable bent the peddle back and it was spot on afterwords.

Suprisingly ive never had one clutch cable problem with my XE lol lol

was it the white one that snapped at combe then ?

Errm, cant remember.
I did snap a couple of cables on the white one, but i cant remember doing one at Combe.
Or maybe i did lol
