LET parts

Evening all,

Recommendations as to where I can get LET internal parts.

Stuff like:

Big end bearings
Main bearings
Piston rings
etc

Just doing some price comparisons and would like to hear where others have purchased their stuff from.

Any brands I should steer clear of?

Not after big power but want to make sure the stuff I buy isn't made of chocolate :thumb:

I get all of my stuff from our local engine machine shop. proper engine reconditioners, none of your spray it with hammerite and call it new guv.

They're in St Neots Cambridgeshire - Anglian Engine Services.
Bearings and rings - standard stuff. AE Hepolite, Clevite, Vandervell, etc... I use ACL bearings (Australian, and the mutts nutts!) in my little 6.7L V8 Belmont. They do ACL Tri-metal bearings for the Holden/Opel 1.8/2.0/2.2 engine - which means it'll be for your LET.

Are Glyco stuff any good?

Yep, Federal Mogul Glyco are good. They're used by manufacturers as original equipment - you can't get much more "standard" than that.

FM own Glacier and Vandervell these days, though they run two factories with some brands coming out of the Vandervell factory, and some coming out of the Federal Mogul factory.

They are responsible for about 95-99% of the market!

Another good option are AE bearings, but make sure you get the Lead/Copper ones (they're stamped LC on the back of them). They're used by a lot of race engine builders, along with the ACL stuff.

When you've done all that, remember that oil is cheaper than engines, so use the best oil you can, and change it regularly.
