Cheers Liam. That's one hell of a mini makes me want another 1. Shame there's no whole build thread on the car just a few pics on retrorides.

I only quickly read it yesterday but I think the guy said they just got stuck in when building it over the two years and pics weren't a prority. Shame.

It's cool to hear that it was bought back after bing family owned for all those years.

The bonnet is interesting, I thought the XE engine fitted into round nosed Mini's? As in being able to close the bonnet.

Xe's will fit into a clubman as there about 4" longer than the normal round nose mini's. People extend the front on the round nose mini's by 90mm so as it fits and the bonnet shuts but they look odd. So half the challenge for those lads was to fit it in a standard length front end hence why they've had to cut the bonnet around the engine. Allthough i don't like it they've done an ace job of not just cutting the top off the bonnet but shapping it around the engine. 1 of the best mini's around IMO. Really makes me want another.

Got ya Ben. So it's basically the same as fitting a Vtec into a round nose then.

There was a B18 Honda powered mk4 at a local retro meet the other week. I don't know how/if his bonnet closed come to think of it. lol

Agreed on one of the best around that's not a Z Cars creation. A stunning car.

Thats why the rad is positioned over the gearbox on that mini as theres no room at the front for a front mounted one. I'd guess the front end was lengthened on the one you saw then mate. To the untrained eye you'd probably never notice but the most hardcore mini fans would notice it a mile away. Certainly is one of the best modified cars I've seen for a while.

Yeah I am a Mini noob. I like them, but who doesn't right? lol

My mate should have been there, he would have kept me right! I was more interested in the original Morris Cooper beside it and the Heritage reshelled job with the airbrushed door hinges. lol

Do you still have a Mini Ben or was that your mk1 for sale on here?

No I've still got mine Liam, I took the turbo engine out of it and put a 998 in it. The turbo lump was more trouble than anything. So I'm going to sell the mini as I think it appeals to more people with a standard engine in and is less work to sell and then sell the turbo lump separately.

I will have another though my lads 2 now so when he's 6 or 7 I'd like to get one for a project for us both and to take him the mini shows in etc think it would be a nice way to get him into cars! lol + il be able to get his tiny little hands in all those hard to reach places ha ha.
Once I've sold the mini I can start again on my let nova.

Lol airbrushed door hinges on a reshell mk1 that's cool!!! lol lol lol

Good idea on getting a project Mini to build with your son when he's older mate! Bet you can't wait for that. It will be awesome.

My mate decided against the turbo motor for his when we rebuilt it beacuse he said they can be trouble, plus he didn't want to cut the bulkhead and lose the heater lol :gay: Shame, but he has his reasons! lol

I know what you mean about small hands being required! When we fitted MS to his the other month it was a bit of a task getting the rad out due to large hands and poor tools. lol :thumb:

i have seen a calf sh!t mini traveller this afternoon, i can't vouch for its state, and some people who live round the corner from me have a white clubman estate slowly rotting into their front lawn & won't sell it...

love mini's,although the whole mini driving experience will be ruined by an xe or let.I'd rather have a 1275 with loads of work with a bmw 16v motorbike head, they produce strong power.

This was on our stand at billing (vxdc, former vxl sports car club) belongs to Dougie McCoomb, the VXR brand manager. Runs the same QED throttle bodies as my nova. Seriously tricked out mini! Carbon fibre central

Not sure I like that, but I'm not a great mini fan to begin with.

And meh, if the engine doesn't fit, just keep slamming the bonnet til it does :d
