are the dispac engines any better or worse than the original 1.6 inj?

Just different really, some prefer these others prefer the coil pack ones.

The reason Will wanted the picture was when Twag collected his interior yesterday i helped him out as his air blower was fixed on blowing hot air, he has a Dispac engine and Will hadnt seen the 8v dispac before and was suprised that the inlet manifold dosent have EFi wrote on it and that the rocker cover is different.

Yeah, I saw one on Monday ( I was drinking Stella!) and I thought it looked a bit weird. Not as nice as the GTE's and early GSi's IMO
