hi i now know what engine i am putting in my new nova (1.6 8v with twin 40's)
befor i do this is there anything i need i.e breaks, suspension ect
i know i need better breaks but dont know waht every one uses.
this will be a 2l red top or maybe somthing bigger in the future so it would be nice to have it ready for then (when im board of the 1.6)

thanks :)

v6 brakes or 288mm cavalier/calibra items. decent gmax suspension kit should do the trick, and a front anti roll bar if your car doesnt already have one

v6 brakes are overkill on Nova's,256mm will suffice
Buy some good suspension,Gaz have an offer on with us still iirc, get some polybushes as standard items will be shagged now no matter how few miles it may have
Service the rear drums and your well away

V6 brakes are overkill on mine and I have 210hp (when it works) lol

The problem you'll have as well is, unless you change the master cylinder when you press the pedal you'll get nothing-nothing-nothing-STOP. Not so bad if you have a heavy V6 or XE up front, but I reckon on a lightweight 1600 it would be more likely to lock the wheels up...

Yeah you might want them in future, but tbh its no trouble to upgrade later. I' rather do that than put up with brakes either off or locked on the 1600

ignore what and said mate, if you want a budget kit thats a bit better than stock and lower gmax isn't bad at all for the cost. given they arent up to the standard of the more expensive options available but they are a LOT better than stock and available used for about £50-60. when fitting an xe you WILL want to change them though, i got a set of spax RSX front coilovers for £20 off a lad who didnt realise they needed spacers and thought they were bent, hence his wheels rubbing lol

yeah i think ill be doing that to start with and then when i get more money look into the better option. i think i will have enough money to start everything over christmas :)
