how old is the radio?, if it has 2 knobs i.e. non digital, remove the knobs and slacken the nuts

Assuming it is an old one
Once nuts are off you should be able to work the front panel off the radio (should have the volume/tuning marking for the Knobs and the radio scale)and then the support plate behind will be loose and able to work it out, we could really do with a pic but seen your post count, need 15 before you can post up a pic;)

After taking off the two nuts, there should be a rectangular fascia plate to remove..
Behind this will be the radio held in by two sprung steel clips..
Ease these (and the attached radio) out...:)
