Picked up this a month ago, havent managed to get any pics up but here goes. Was on here before but bought here from a lad down in Cork. Delighted to have come across cause it is a really clean car. The car only has 70k original miles on it.

Since I have bought I have spent hours detailing it but am fairly happy with the finish now. I have also replaced the headlights, indicators, mudflaps, GSi grill badge brand new managed to find one, bonnet catches, velour mats, smoked side repeaters, heat shield , side skirts and gm wipers all parts new. Have also spent a lot of time paints the calipers, drum and got the whole underside sealed. A new fuel pump and actuator (I think) all replaced for new items.

Have a few wee more bits to do have a new wing aerial and Vauxhall rocker cover emblem coming too and I think that will be it then. Also have a set of GAZ coilvers in her. The final thing is the wheels dont know what one to go for Speedlines, Sofstars or the three spokes?
Anyways here is some pics

murph-gsi
25-10-10, 12:45 AM
Thanks lad. Ya just keep here relatively standard, anyways only side repeaters and wheels to put her back. She will be off the road till around April will then put 6months tax on here. Will use it for the odd day and shows. Group of lads over here local going to Biling I think it should be a bit of craic.

haha, it does look sweet with the Speedlines on.

But Andy's and Lee's have Speedlines on.

It will look really good on the original 3 spokes.

Three spokes only look good on a weigh bridge, never seen a set look good on a well finished Nova

murph-gsi
25-10-10, 06:13 PM
I'll prob put the 3 spokes on for a few pics other than that it will be the Softstars or Speedlines, need new tyre for the 3spokes too. What the best make a size to get. Also I might end up with the Softstars as the Speedlines are slightly rubbing on the back and had to put a 3mm spacer on the front as they caught the winder on the coilover. I'd say only by a 1mm as the wheel still spun. Sofstars no catching at all!

It had no sticker on the boot when I had it, and I put the round badge on it, but thought the older square one looked better so changed it!!!

someone must have removed them before?

some of the last e16 (dizzy) engine gsi's on K plates
and c16 (coil pack) engine gsi's on K and L had the round badge
in the middle on the boot lid and
GSI on the left and vauxhall on the right

give me a minute and i'll try and find a photo

28-10-10, 09:45 PM
Cheers for all the comments lads. Ya going to keep her standard as possible, only wheels really thats an option. Wouldnt mind 195/40's Toyos Proxes but will probably end up putting them on the Softstars, they have lovely Nankangs!
Also the Softars dont catch on the back but the Speedlines slightly do. So since I am going to put some 80mm springs in the back, Speedlines will probably come off. Ah well always have the 3 spokes.

Well since there was serious weather last week decided to take a few pics of the nova.
Since the last time she has had a full service, new battery, new washer bottle and header tank, all the engine bay cleaned up and a new GSi standard exhaust put on and back has been lowered 80mm.
All I want to get now is Toyo 40 tyres.
Anyways here is some pics.

Loving the car! How did you get the rear mud flaps so straight? Plus where did you get the exhaust from?

Cheers lad. Ha a lot of time went into those mudflaps. Got the height iI wanted them to sit at first. Screw the top bit first.Put the back on axel stands and adjust till its plumb. front are similar but harder.

Bought the gsi standard exhaust brand new off ebay there a while ago. Was one already on it but had to get it as it was new:) . Think NOV4_SPORT has one for sale so try him.:thumb:

Ok has been a while since I posted on here. Have made a few small changes to the nova. The front calipers have been painted black which I think gives it a more subtle look. Also got a set of Toyo Proxes 195/40 tyres which makes a huge difference, absolutely no rubbing issues at all now(highly recommend them!) One small thing to do but not a big issue is to get the bonnet chips taken care of and a few of them on the wing mirrors. Anyways will get pics when the weather improves.

Since the last time, I have taken off the old pillar vinyl and replaced it with original ones. I think it looks far better and now has the car all original.

Just a few quick photos of the Nova and my friends Astra Gsi. Bit jealous he bought it because it is mint. So will be nice to have them both out next summer, as it it now time to put them away for the winter.

Thats a class picture lad, even has the door bumpers on her. See the wee dents on the front bumper were on it back then. Have got rid of them now, put a brand new bumper on her. In fact a lot of brand new parts and work have gone into it.
Only thing I regret is that I cant have the english plate K9 NJC on it!!! Hanging in the garage though :)
Planning a few shows this summer definitely lad. So hope to see ya there.

Haven't uploaded this in a while but am always on and checking out whats going on in the Nova scene. Well since being on I've repainted the wipers arms and caps satin black and put in new rear parcel shelf straps. Have to get the tank sprayed silver too. Done a bit of driving in her last summer but no shows unfortunately. Plan to get her to some this year and put up some mileage, still only 70,300 on her. Anyways here is a few pics I've taken in the last year :)

So I was off this week and had a few new lying about to go onto the Nova.

First off I wanted to put her back to standard. So off with the Speedlines and the gaz coilovers and on with the 3 spokes and Bilstein B4 suspension and 60mm Pi springs.
http://i599.photobucket.com/albums/tt73/murphmad/20141003_121040.jpg (http://s599.photobucket.com/user/murphmad/media/20141003_121040.jpg.html)

Three spokes are nice but I do love the Speedlines and the ride is way more comfier on the three spokes, even if it is lowered 60mm.

As the above lads said, its not for sale. Thanks for the interest.

Doubt I will sell for a very long time, I will just keep maintaining and enjoying it.:)

So I finally got around to changing the radiator for a genuine Valeo. Very surprisingly when I took it out there was very little sludge and rust in it. However as can be seen from the photos it was on its last legs. The rust was pretty substantial on the outside.

So I removed the old rad and cleaned down and freshened up the fan and cowl. All bolts were also cleaned up. I also got hold of some new radiator clips, which kept with the clean look as the old were well past it.

Gave the cross member a good clean and polish and no rust to be seen, just need to get the tie bar bolts and nuts and in fact all the bolts underneath her cleaned up.

Got the rad in hassle free and with no scratches. Filled her up with some nice red coolant and that was that.

Next job on the list is to get the fuel tank out, cleaned up and sprayed silver.

I have a set of B4's to go on mine as well in the near future. Not expecting anything too spectacular but for what they cost with the Bilstien name on them you can not argue and may as well fit them over standard parts.

Nice update Murph -New radiator has freshened up the front end somewhat!

murph-gsi
15-11-14, 10:44 AM
Ta the B4's are not a bad upgrade at all for the standard look. The ride is far more comfier even with the drop when compared to the Gaz coilovers. I do however love them and the Speedlines.

Cheers for the comments, it freshened it up nicely.

Would like to get all the running gear powder coated and bolts and nuts plated. Its a never ending road to be honest

Well got a few more bits for the Nova done.

Got the new GSi door handles on. Such a difference in the colour as over the years they have fairly faded.

Also got my a new horn as one of them failed and got a new fuel cap for it as well.

Lastly got the radiator sticker on. Thanks numptysport for that.

Am debating about putting of the rear round Griffin badge instead of the current square one?

Have finally got the Nova back on the road and got classic insurance on her too which was a big plus!

Since my last post have done a few small things:

- Gaz ultra low coilovers have been installed with solid topmounts.
- New rear boot grab handle has been put on.
- Have got a new set of head light covers for her (Thanks to one of the lads on here!)
- Also had the starter and alternator reconditioned.

Other than that have been driving her mainly the weekends, when the weather is good. Took her to a Ford show of all things and couldn't believe the it won one Best Retro Car at the show. Anyways heres a few quick snaps I had on the phone.

So I finally got a pic of the round griffin boot sticker on, which I like. Since it was meant to have come on the boot, it will be staying.

Would love to be able to get the VAUXHALL sticker for the boot vinyl to the right. If anybody knows or has a good picture and some measurements let me know as I may make up a few.

Also a pic of the new grab handle, just wondering anyway of cleaning up the lock push bottom or does anyone have a new one or a very similar color one lying about?

What is the best way of posting pics, instead of using photobucket?

Had a small update to the car was alive but the pics did not post.

I use FlickR. It's free for something like the first 1000 photos. Easy to use and works well

had the round one on both my GSIs always preferred the round one, imo the GTE had the square front one and rear, the mk2 always looked better with a boot round one that matched the round bonnet badge

Perfect have tapatalk up and going now.

Always liked the forums as you have a great record of you works and any queries you may have.

Anyways I haven't got out in the car in a very long time but do keep it fresh and maintained.

Few jobs I've carried out are.
- Window steel dividers rubbed down and sprayed satin black.
- A service.
- Full paint correction and waxing.
