Mk2 Spoiler (GSi, SR) etc
1. Use the original pins, drill the boot and mount it correctly ?
2. If it doesn't have pins...Sikaflex it on ?
3. Again if it doesn't have pins...Bore a hole through the spoiler and bootlid, use self tappers to fix it on then filler over the holes you drilled to mount it ?
Which one is the correct way ?
Also what's the point of doing number 3 when you could save yourself a lot of hassle and time by spending £20 or so and use option 1 ?
Let the talking commense :)

buy one with the bolts in the first place. and use wurth bond n fix.

So your saying number 1 Kev ? I'd say number 1 as well mate
I should have put a poll on here but don't know how to
Certainly woudn't rely on stickaflex or other sealant alone. I'd not be too keen on self tappers either, I'd want bolts holding it on.

Number 1 Jack ? lol
Yeah, assuming you have a spoiler with the OEM bolts on it - if not, drill some bolts into it
Poll added lol

Option 3 should be bodge it to death - Can it be changed to that please ? :)

sticko****. is crap and best ovoided imo. i use wurth stuff in work and tbh you could stick poo to a shiney shovel with it.

Just used Sikaflex as an example lol Could be any bonding stuff...Not sure what we use at work...3M stuff I think!
I was just trying to get my point across that option 3 is bodgey, pointless, time consuming and crap looking when you could much easier to it the proper (OEM) way
That is all :)
What a crap post.
Affix it correctly. Anything else is a bodge.

Just wanted an opinion mate...Someone I know used option 3 to fit theirs...
I just wanted to see what other folk thought was the best option
OE is always the way for me like...
If its on firmly and its tidy then who cares :p

You could say mate lol But I did want to see how everyone else fitted theres
Just think its a bit of a long way for a shortcut to put self tappers through the spoiler then have to fill over them and spend ages getting that looking good when you could save s*it loads of time and fit it the proper way
But each to their own :)

F*ck I laughed quite hard there lol
My mate drilled through his own roof fitting a mk1 spoiler to his old Nova 'Star Fire' LMAO. That had no bolts so was self tappered on.

lol What an idiot!!!
I'll need to get myself a MK1 wrap around spoiler with the pins on it and fit it the OE way
Need to make sure the measurements are spot on as I don't want to f*ck the boot I'm going to England for lol

I think I have one kicking about and it's red as well so will need a quick scuff then painted :)
I'll let you know if I become stuck though Kev
"Going to England." It's not that far away. lol
The boot/spoiler scenario was epically funny mate. I had gone back in the garage for the right sized bit iirc and then I heard all hell break loose as my mate just went for it. :d
I had mine but it had no nuts so I just used bondage tape, works a treat, has been through car washs etc and hasn't budged :)

Down to John H's for the spoiler L14M lol Not as if it's just over the border!
Can't wait to go down though, I'm looking forward to it
Cool mate.
Rad trips rock. A1 FTL! M18 FTW (depends where you are/going though) lol

I would be too usually. Last time I was up that way (Glasgow) I raped a hired LWB Transit there and back. Good times. lol

Maybe once I'm over the Scottish border (On the way home, we'll see about cutting the 'ETA' down) lol
its not a true nova unless something is self tappered on
vaughanmc
24-10-10, 06:26 PM
Aye a splitter or a number plate lol But not something that came standard on a Nova and can be fitted properly
numberplates came standard :p

That's true lol
i say number 4 as it made me laughlol
Id stick a mk1 spoiler on, same as i did on my corsa as the studs are always broken due to rust. Mk2 nova spoilers id use the proper stuff though, its not hard to find a spoiler with all 4 pins intact.

im in a similar situation i have 3 boot lids, a mint tailgate with no spoiler, a white one with mk2 spoiler but has been delocked n welded where the lock was, and gsi tailgate.
i was wondering which to use as i think it can be a bit hit or miss drilling the holes in the correct place for the mk2 spoiler. the white tailgate will most likely be scrapped, n the gsi tailgate has the vynal which is more effort to remove.
Id Bond/glue it on but using proper spoiler adhesive fella..... I know its not oem fitment but many spoilers nowadays are held by either proper spoiler tape or bonded with the correct solution. We fit many to m3,m5's and the Jaguar "R" series with no issues and Im sure they will be going a damn sight quicker than a nova from time to time!! My red one was also bonded with no problems at all.
Nick.
