I never bothered with a return on my 1300 converted 1ltr.

You shouldn't really need one. A certain A-Reg (now rolling shell for £175) that was once a 1.0L doesn't have one, and that ran a 1300 with a 32/36 DGV Weber with standard mechanical pump. I know that the original Peirburgers often leaked like sieves when presented with a little fuel pressure, where the Weber was more than happy.

What carb are you using on the 1.2?

i have to do something as fuel comes out , at the moment ive put the return to a jerry can so i can move the car about.

yes its the peirburg single choke, the engine has done 27k proven

You need to bung up the return pipe from the carb. A bolt with a long shoulder and a jubilee clip should sort it.

Ugly, but effective

what happens to the excess fuel ?

Nothing. theres a pressure build up in the carb. The standard pump can produce about 2-3psi tops from experience. Nothing to worry about.

okay will give it go tomo , just cant be doing with it flooding and not starting and with it getting colder im hoping to get all the messing around sorted and get it mot'd.

some people have been known to tee it into the tank vent pipe, but i don't know how effective it is in the long run

Could work like that. Personally, I'd plug it.

i did have a look at the vent and thought about that will bung it and see how that goes

i'm not sure it will be effective. they fitted a return for a reason.

because it was easier than a pressure regulator on a p-berg, or worse : GM Varijet!!! They used to pour juice down the inlet if the return blocked.
