As you all know, I got banned 6 months ago, and have 6 months to go.
I have several options on cars, but would like to know if its even worth trying to insure the track car?
Its either,
c20xe nova
1.2 nova
1400 306 (I would have to buy gf a corsa though)
or, I have been offered an astra mk4 van.
All the compare the market sites arent the best.
Anyone got any specific sites?
I would like a quote on the nova, just to check what it would belol

few mates aint in trade either, but just sells a few cars now and again,
trade insurance are they only ones's that will cover they for half decent price,
most of there bans are down to drink driving or/and no insurance,
just google trade insurance

No offence but coming off of a ban, even thinking about trying to insure an XE is just plain stupid??
A low CC is the best way forward. Build a years NCB then go from there?
I would say ask sky but then you would have to be a member and i dont know your age.
hmm highly doubt you'll get insured on an XE at 18 after a year ban.
agree with Pete tho, get something with a low CC and build your NCB from there.

Ill be 19.
And I probably won't.
However, I could do with a trade policy, as I regularly work on other peoples cars, and have a few myself.
Do trade policys cover modified cars?
Joe has a ban and more points on his record than Stephen Hawking on Mastermind, yet still got a "good" deal on his LET.
I'm sure he posted a thread about it in this forum, have a nose round and see if you can find it. Granted he is older than you, but it might be worth contacting his insco and asking for a quote.

I would spaff my undies if they said £2000 for the xe.
But, he is 23 I thinklol
stick with the cheapest (306) and go tpft for a year. (don't crash it or do anything stoopid for a year either lol)
You need to be 23 for motor trade, and you wont insure an XE after a ban and apparently you need 2 years ncb to insure with sky ?
* or 2 years driving experience

Trouble is, the gf has it, and she needs a car, so will end up having to buy a corsa, just to get my 306 backlol

Didn't you get banned from driving due to racing or something daft??? (In a 1.0 Nova.... And now you want to insure a let??)
I'm pretty sure ANY insurance company will have a masturbation party after you've accepted a quote. I do believe you are officially a shareholders dream!
To be honest fella, Follow the advice of the other guys, Buy something jolly sensible with about 25bhp and don't race it! Also make sure it's got enough legs to get the Mrs to the trafford centre....
im 22 btw :p
And i built up 1 years NCB in my 1L nova 1st :)

my mate was banned for 12 months for drink driving and he came off his ban and wanted too get a 1.4 golf and it was 3000 pound insurance and he 21
Drink drivings quite a serious offence
matt, find the absolutely cheapest car to insure on third party, limited mileage, and then take the bus for a year. then you'll have 1 years ncb.

Aye Matt get a wee cheap motor (Doesn't even need to be a Nova) run it and get some more experience, NCB etc etc
Then get whatever you want when you have decent NCB and more experience
It's not all about speed you know when your a 'new' driver :)
I'm still running about in my 1.2i Nova and that's about a year and a half lol

Im in the same position, banned 6 months ago and 6 remaining.
But im 19 and will be almost 20 when my ban finishes, atleast we have alot of time to save up for insurance?
Well i havent been banned but i have 6points and my insurance is £2500 on a 1.3sr third party fire and theft.

I have 1 years no claims, and no Tom, an XE not a LET lol
buy a corsa c 1.0. there was one on gaybay for 800 last week. group 1 and decent security so they are one of the cheapest cars around.
A group one car isnt always cheapest though, due to the amount of 17 year old's crashing them showing off to there mums sisters boyfriends sisters. And no im not branding everybody who hasnt driven before with the same brush.
My corsa is group 1/2, cant remember, but as standard, its not the cheapest car to insure.
Buy a classic mini, they are cheap to insure, Or keep trying rubbish cars to see whats cheap. Rovers are a good one lol

lol Is that because before you have time to crash a rover the head gasket has gone three times so you dont bother driving anymore ? lol
I can't see a Corsa being the cheapest car to insure, even if it was a group 1 - for reasons as above (i.e. lots of chavs drive their mum's corsa, and crash them). An Aygo/C1/Pug 123456 would probably be cheaper, tiny engined Fiat, etc.
i know the c1/aygo/107's are all very cheap to insure, tax and run.
Some one i work with has one hes 21, 2 years ncb and no points and hes paying £300 a year to insure it, £20 a year to tax it lol
C2's are "acceptable" motoring from what I can work out after a test drive on saturday.... ok the 1.1 is incredibly asthamtic but it will easily do motorway speeds and handles better than a nova does (thats std vs std :p )
I think you are either going to pay a lot for a car thats cheap to run, or pay a lot to run a car thats cheap to buy...... I'd sooner pay more for the car and hold some hope of losing less than the insurance difference.

Well I've sorted a mk4 astra dti van.
Plans are
Gsi bumper
60mm drop
Leathers
Them team dynamics wheels
Vectra hubs with 284 turbo brakes
Tinted rear window
Everything colour coded
All declared £2250 for 12 months!
matt, you could get a taxi everywhere for less than it would cost to insure & run that car

Just read the thread and was going to say get a van as it would be one of the cheapest to insure.
Mod it right and it'll look great and if you get fed up of it, when you have been insured for that first year then they'll bring the insurance down alot!
but you cant tow on your license ?
i believe you can tow a shoe box...
but no, towing needs an extra test now.
lol! Like that is even with mods declared!
As said though, insure a standard one. You make no sense mate.
Those of us that know the score speak sense, like getting a smaller engined car/moped etc.
You say it won't carry your bikes and tools, but surely the bus doesn't now.
