View Full Version : Track car centre console
Need something to mount cutoff switch, lights switches, etc to in my track-oriented car. Wasn't planning on having a dash.
Any suggestions how to make one and what material to use?
Metal.
Seriours, make up something that comes off eather side of the tunnel, have a letter box gap at the bottom for wires/pipes and stuff i presume you have coming down there, bit across the front, maybe a support bar or two.
I cant really picture it in my head so my explanation is rubbish. Needs to look good to aye?

Have a look at Ernie/Alex Maris's old car. He had a dash, but switches n' stuff.
But as AW06 says, metal would be best.

Mike saw those earlier actually, not sure where I'd mount one a foot high though?
This is what I was thinking of, like Nova Ian's, although I probably wouldn't have enough switches to fill it all:

get a small electrical circuit box, then mount the switches onto it...then mount it where it fits nice.

Eject Seat! Love It Ernie :-D
That does look pretty cool Ernie, don't fancy trying to fit a dashboard in to it at the moment though.
For how little a dash carcass weight's & how neater it'll look with an OE dash you might aswell use the original TBH Iain.
Rollcage front legs, triangulation, removal of all dash brackets and completely different/large steering column mount doesn't fill me with confidence it'll go in and look nice lol

Yes very true Iain, it's going to be a bit difficult, maybe you should swap your dash for the excellent cardboard template of a centre console I knocked up lol lol
The front legs & foward triangulation are easy to get around, but the removal of brackets & different steering coloumn would be a right bitch :S

Or mod the dash to fit what you have?
Outrageous suggestion lol Just tried mocking up the three black plastics and it's gonna be a right pain.
