Seems 'the norm'

Its about time we all started saying fook you to the high prices.... mind you its also about time the insurance folks said fook you to personal injury claims!

Not just you; I've read bad stories from others too. My sister had issues when she was insured with them as well and had a small bump.

£700 for 2.0 8v Nova at 24 is probably more than I'd want to pay tbh, but I guess a blackpool postcode won't be top rated and lack of NCB lets you down a bit. I'm assuming clean license too.

Totally agree, but the only way to get round it is to sell the car and buy one you can insure for 10p - but how many kids would do that?! You've only got to look in this very forum to see 17-20 year olds paying £2-3000 to insure that SR or even a 1.0.

I wanted a GT4 when I was 19 but I didn't buy one as the insurance would have been nigh on £2k lol

Too right, fair enough my license isn't clean but insurance from 17-20 year olds has risen 57% this year, i got a quote on my first car out of interest, basically as if i'd just got my license as and when i first insured it.. it was 1208 at first, and now its 2114 (without the deposit)

I'm 43 and renewed my insurance through Flux direct..

Seicento Schumacher, 2000 miles agreed..

£140 TPFT inc admin fee, so though your £700 may seem high, it's actually probably 'reasonable' currently..

We are still being screwed tho...

(I was paying over £600 a year TPFT in 1986 for a Mk2 Escort 1600 Ghia, so things haven't really gotten any worse!)...

I did the same earlier in the year - what was £600 in 1999 was £2500 or something daft today lol

320% increase in 11 years, not too bad!

£600 in 1986..

What would that equate to in 2010?

600 24 years ago was a big chunk...

lol Hopefully its gone down 320% by the time my plans come into place next year. Its crazy, they just chuck you a random number half the time, one insurer 2k, the next 4k, or pay a huge deposit and hardly anything monthly or no deposit and all your wages in the month. I work part time get about £550 a month, insurance is about £330, need more hours, if not, i'm fooked to even run a car. In 2 months i'd of spent more on insurance than i would of the car

tricky one...

We found a receipt for a fairly decent camera of my grandads from the 50's, and it cost about 2 weeks wages.... And a fairly decent camera today will cost about 2 weeks wages (in most cases). So in the grand scheme of things insurance is 'probably' the same, but still crap in terms of SUDDENLY ramping up hard

Ive been with Adrian flux since about 1995 and never had any probs with them that was untill i was stopped in my crx last month as it flagged up on there ampr camera as uninsurred.
Now as that car only comes out for 6 months of the year and is paid in full i was a little surprised to hear this.
I was given a producer to show my paper work then given a breath test (passed) had the car checked over with a fine tooth comb then sent on my way.
I got home checked my paper work and cover is till 4/12/2010 so all was fine.
Now this is where the fun begins.
I checked up on the insurance data base and found my car had no cover on it so i phoned A/F to get an answer machine saying not open at weekends so i called them back monday and was told ive had no insurance on the car since june.
Now this got alarm bells ringing as i had paid in full around june time and i had all the paper work at mine.
It turned out when i paid in full they had pressed cancel insurance instead of paid in full.
After a lot of phone calls i bypassed A/F (my broker) and went strait to the people who insured my car.
I spoke to a very nice chap who phoned me back within 30 mins to say he had sortted it all out as A/F didnt want to know.
I also got money for 4 months worth of insurace back and said im never going with them again.
Rant over and with Tescos now as got a standard 206 lol.

I had similar with a broker based in Essex in the late 90's.... I NEVER received a certificate etc and they had trouble getting me the NCB proof. I'm sure I was never insured but a broker took my cash lol

My mRs's old dear had the exact same thing with Churchill but the police never gave a producer but luckily they managed to get it thrown out of court with a statment from the insurance company after listening to the recorded phone calls.
