How are the bump strips attatched on a MK1 saloon? Are there any holes in the bodywork underneith them?

Early 85/85 strips are clipped on, there are pins (look like nail heads) welded to the skin, plastic clips fit to these and the strips attach to them.

Later Mk1's are stuck on

all mine were stuck on but mine were e reg onwards. no holes

easy way to tell,

if there solid plastic, they will be cliped on
rubber, there stuck on
