What standing 1/4 mile times do people run?
I'm not sure whether my time is good or bad, as there were no other similar Novas on the day I was at Santa Pod. I have a Nova GSi.

well, when I do my engine conversion, with 3 or 4 engine mods, and have the suspension, brakes uprated and have the 17s on, I should hopefully be running a mid to high 14. HOPEFULLY :P

as calculated from a few details a std GTE/GSI should do a standing 1/4 in 16.5 seconds (if done well)

erm with 17's any nova trying to hit a 14sec will need some pretty damn good modifications

see the quarter mile posts in general forum. There are a few stdish 1.6 there - most have at least a filter and a back box

I did it in 16.29 with k&n and sebring back box and bald inside tyres as the tracking was well off (which I didn't realise until I got home). It is the maddest buzz in the world and I would recommend it to anyone, who's never been. I am now waiting my piper cam kit and hopefully time in the 15's

best thing to do is go to a RWYB when it's fairly quiet. Don't tell any of your mates, as you'll only feel more pressure on the line. Try different things when accelerating away. On my first attempt, I idled at 1000rpm at the line and didnt get off very well. On my second run I idled at just over 2000rpm and got away much better.

If you go on a quiet day you'll be able to get 4 or 5 runs in easily and you can experiment with different techniques.

16.29 not bad at all.
My GTE had a K&N, Scorpian Exhaust and Long Ratio gearbox and my best time was 16.01
But my first few runs were in the 17's. I had 14 runs in all. If you go to a run wot you brung, go late afternoon if you want lots of go's. There was no cue when I went.
