Just want to say before I ask the question is hello :D

I just got a nice red Nova 1.3 SR with aftermarket rust :P. And im about to attempt an engine conversion using a Toyota Starlet GT Turbo engine. The spec of the engine is a 1300cc 4 cyl 16v twin cam turbocharged intercooled engine (if no one knew). And I was wondering, what will I need from the toyota to do the conversion, and what will I need to do to the nova itself for the engine to fit.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated :D.

havent go a clue apart from seam welding to strenghten the engine bay and get a gsi/gte/sri tank get an eletric fuel pump, good luck

by the way aftermarket rust is standard on all novas

The thing is, im gunna try and get a written off Starlet for the conversion, and just take everything I need out of that and put it into the nova, so the only thing really is to seam weld the engine bay and sub frame, and get some custom engine mounts and that?

Also, the 17" alloys I want to get. Whats PCD and offset should I have, and whats the best size tyres, i.e. 195/45 R15????.

assuming the engine wont fit to a vauxhall gearbox youll need custom everything, mounts, linkages, drive shafts etc etc

yeah I know, I was told that, but I saw on the suzuki swift engine conversion, the actual engine being fitted minus the mounts would be a simple bolt in. But will the driveshafts from the starlet fit the nova.

I know its gunna be a hard job, with lots of problems. But... but, where would we be without irrational and overall stupid ideas and thoughts, we would be nowhere I tells ya. When that american said, why don't we put some1 on the moon, and he was told, it won't work, it will cost too much bla bla bla. Did he give up??, no I tells ya, he stuck at it, oh there were problems, but he did it.

On July 20th 1969, Neil armstrong landed on the moon. Now, if you stick your mind at something, and follow it through, you can accomplish anything.

your right tony, if I found one, I think God would come down from the heavens, and shine a light on it, and HALE-LUYA would sound from all around :P

But will the driveshafts from the starlet fit the nova
god knows, get the specs of the starlet driveshafts, i doubt it though

it would probably be best to do something more 'conventional' like putting a vauxhall engine in

easyer for the simple reason you will find an engine in a breakers no probs also i was gona get a starlet and the cost off tuneing is far greater than slaping a turbo on swift if there was enough ifo avalible id prob do it my self

Wot will insurance be like, coz its a fortune for him coz its an import

Ive been talking to Tony, and i've decided to scrap the Starlet, but instead do a Swift GTi engine conversion, with a few little... extras :D

You'll need to mate the engine up with a Nova gearbox. Then just 1 fabricated mount on the drivers side.

problem is finding a nova gearbox that will take 200 to 250BHP, maybe even 300BHP.
