Have owned the car for prob just over 3 year now and althoe I owned it as a standard Gsi (that needed abit of attention) alot has changed here's a few pics from then till now!

Cheers for the comments!
since them lot of pics were took I had a 1/4 mile day planned at santa pod however I ended up breaking a C.V joint the day before so it never made it! once I had sorted it i got back out on the road must have been for all of 20 mins and it managed to blow the Head gasket so it's now back in the garage for an engine rebuild and hopefully abit more power!

http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n130/k24_ste/IMG_2137.jpg

http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n130/k24_ste/IMG_2143.jpg

Have recived a Z-let steel head gasket which will be going on! so hopefully won't blow in a hurry!

also going for a bigger FMIC which ment cutting the front bumper further

http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n130/k24_ste/IMG_2168.jpg

http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n130/k24_ste/IMG_2172.jpg

http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n130/k24_ste/IMAGE6.jpg

Plan on keeping the reg plate on for road use and hopefully if I can get a few track days sorted take it off for them! Also thinking of spraying it black to try make it look abit more hidden! what you's lot think?

Also a few upgrades for the engine internals!

And love it even more, as its all been done in house, and the paint works turned out really well, even though you dont have a booth!

Excellent work there, the only thing that lets it down are the non-factory gsi decals, very good work though

Wow, this looks stunning, plenty of hard work gone into this, its a shame you never got to really enjoy it, but at least when the engine is rebuilt it will be better and quicker.

Very nice mate.

Very nice mate. Perfect. Hats off to you. This one is a minter. :)

I like the idea of disguising the FMIC. It doesn't exactly shout about being an LET at present, so a lick of black paint and power upgrade should really make it into a sleeper!

K24_STE
17-10-10, 02:43 PM
Thaks again for the comments sure they will all help! :)

Mattbrown!

Ye there is alot of work and time thats gone into the paint it was a case of rubbing down, spraying, rubbing down, spraying..... you get the point. 11 coats of paint it had in the end to get it right! then used the G6 and G10 cutting compound with a final coat of polish! :)

Graeme Cheers! all my decals (apart from the boot pannel vinyl) were purchased off here still havn't got round to getting them all on! (door pillars) which decals you on about the door and boot? how can you tell? again thanks!:)

Black is definitely the best colour for a GSi!

good luck with the rebuild :)

K24_STE
19-10-10, 09:36 PM
well was abit daft realy wanted it on the road for last easter so I could at least get the summer out of it and by the time that the easter weekend came the engine was still being built and funds were getting pretty low so was rushing to get it done and it was the only gasket I had at the time so ended up useing it.. the plan always was to rebuild the engine to a decent spec this year anyway! :)

I'm very impressed by your build btw alot of time and money gone into getting it right! think I have commented on it before!:)

looks like someone wasnt running a heater matrix, some track cars are ran like this. pikey way of blanking it off though. is that just silicone sealer in the head?

K24_STE
22-10-10, 03:10 PM
not sure if it's a silicone sealer it feels quite a solid piece like filler or somthing! so I would be ok removeing this and finding an adaptor so I can still run the heater matrix? :)

Edit* Removed thanks for the reply!

Benn
22-10-10, 06:29 PM
Being the main water outlet of the head its really not good that's been blocked.
If you have to drill that sh*te out. And see if you can get a bit of pipe to fit the hole.

It's been a long while since I updated this thread 2 year infact but haven't realy changed much to update it with haveing various other bits on etc, However with the winter well set in and a new year aproaching I'm hopeing to have the engine rebuilt again to an even bigger spec. but here a 1 or 2 things I've changed over the past 2 years some of you's might of seen it at a few shows threw the last 2 summers..

Upgraded the turbo to a Garrett GT28 and converted it from to 5 stud flange to a 3" V band to run a 3" system

Then fitted a laguna splitter
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n130/k24_ste/IMG_2533-1.jpg

And a 6 speed gear knob
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n130/k24_ste/IMG_25412-1.jpg

Then got hold of a pair of equal length shafts

looking stunning mate  , how hard was it to strip everything down and weld and replace front end and underneath as mine could with it but just wondering cost and duration as i only have a small garage and not a lot of room to move about and to store parts....?

I'm guessing your on about the stitch welding etc? Tbh wasn't realy that difficult at all once I was down to that level of build anyway :) must of taken about a week or 2 just of evenings and weekends to complete the stitch welding anyway, the hardest part was getting all the old seam sealer off but once you have a clean surface to weld to then shoudn't take that long. :thumb:
