I'm due to ban all VW's from my life forever!!
£300 for timing chains and tensioners!! WTF!!

£200 for a gasket set!

£120 for spark plugs, pas fluid, coolant and a air and oil filter!

That's not including buying the f***ing engine to rebuild!

So there is my mini rant and also a breif explanation as to why my cheap daily to run till ades Sr became available turned into a German money pit with a obsession for my wallet and now I can't buy it!

Aaaaaaaaaaagh!

Oh and chain tensioners are updated ones from the latest Vw V6's.
So more cost! Near as damn it 1k including block. Wish I'd never bought it. But at least it's bullet proof for the charger now.

The worst bit. I destroyed nearly 6 brand new plugs when I blew the last engine up! Not a happy bunny...

As soon as it's in and running i'm sure i'll forget the pain... Just pissed me off, Felt like i'd been stabbed seeing "ades" *Read my* SR for sale knowing my fundage had been raped. The bugger is I can run cheaper plugs, I can buy cheaper gaskets, You can buy ECP chains and tensioners but I prefer not to cut back on essentials (I'm a proper silver spoon VW boy when it comes to stuff like that) It's my own fault! I got a pretty damn fine bodied VR for less than a grand. You can only get rotters for that kinnda money.... I suppose i'm lucky in a way, It's easier to do an engine than to chase rust!

That's not good :(

Supposedly VW are meant to be very reliable, but I constantly hear these types of storries

Get rid of it and get a Vauxhall, reliable and cheaper to fix :thumb:
