Got the mk1 clocks from a nova gte and fitted them to a mk2 1.2 nova, it wasnt easy because the plug on the back isnt the same, so i had to cut it off and use block connectors, then i fitted a wire to the coil for the rev counter and fitted a 2 wire oil pressure sender for the oil pressure gauge. Looks mint now!

....how hard is it to actuly wire up the tachometre (rev counter) to a nova that doesnt normaly have it. is it just a case of measuring the power out of the coil??

do not cut off.... spring the connectors out of the mk1 one and fit the wires into the mk2 one.... only the oil pressure has a diff connection

Its very easy to connect the rev counter up! Its a green wire from the clock to the coil.

The plugs are not the same on mk1 as mk2. They are a different size.

on the same sort of lines
what needs to be done to the plug on a 1.2 nova to fit 1.4sr dials as the plugs are different?

If you've got clocks out of a mk1 nova for example and you want to put them into a mk2 nova, the plugs are different. So make sure you get the plug that fits into the mk1 clocks! Cut the plug off your mk2 nova and join the wires together from your mk2 nova to the wires in the mk1 plug (obviously join the same colour wires together) Then plug the plug into the clocks. The speedo cable does not need modifying. If the new clocks have a rev counter then you will need to extend the green wire from the new clocks to the ignition coil, i think its to the negative terminal on the coil if i remember correctly. Also, if the new clocks have an oil pressure gauge then you will need a 2 wire oil pressure sender fitting to your engine instead of the single wire sender. Then an extra wire will go from the new clocks to the sender, which is the blue/yellow wire from the new clocks. The mileage may need changing on your new clocks if its way out.

why not just pop all the contacts out of the incorrect plug and put them in the right one
