Gonna look at one of these next week. It looks freakishly clean in the pics he showed me.

What do we wanna be looking for? Not sure if it has the Isuzu motor.

There's the first thing to check then!

If it has the GM abomination - run a mile!lol

The izuzus are pretty undestructible tbh lol
Just check the turbo aint smokey (not expensive to replace anyway)

And the rest of the car is just checking the usual GM goodness (rust everywhere etc lol)

the isuzu motor has "turbo" written in red on a black rocker cover. If its owt else, leave it.Rust, other than that everything is cheap and readily available

Check the alternator charges ok if it's an isuzu. Expensive and common fault on the old isuzu.

Then get it and go on ebay for a cheap bleed valve and boost guage, follow the guides on here and enjoy muchos boosty goodness and still 45-50+ mpg:thumb:

check rear spring cups for rot and rear arches,
inner arch at front on early ones,
otherwise there pretty good good luck check for water leaks as they like them and they run pretty hot standard

Cheers lads. I probably wasn't very clear. It's not for me, so even if it has the Vaux engine he will probably buy it. I used to have an Astra with an Isuzu TD so I know what you mean about the alternator carry on. Luckily mine had been replaced not long before I bought it. :)

The arches seem rock solid in the pics, will check the spring seats etc.

I shall report back with a win or fail type thread of said trip. thumb:

LMAO. That bad eh! It will be typical to find a rust free (or as good as) shell even if it is a 5dr.. and it be diseased with that P.O.S in the bay then!

Rear arches, round the screen, rear spring cups, inner arches, errrrrrm

And if it is an isuzu it'll run forever. My dads is on 220,000 miles and still happily does 120 miles a day at 60 mpg

I had no end of bother with mine due to the alternator. I never did get it fixed, just sold it on. Easiest car to sell ever, fact. I had about 30 calls about it on the first day.

Take your word for it then but every na derv cav ive seen advertised as a 1.7, even parts lists say 1.7d unless vaux did the gay thing like bmw and say its a 1.7 when its a 1.6 for sales pitch, i knew the mk2 was 1.6
