will a f20 box bolt onto a a small block?

thinking of buying an f20 dog box for my smallblock nova rally car.

what do i do to make it fit if anything?

i am running a f13 quiafe just now..

it will bolt straight up, but i cant remember the clutch/flywheel combo you need to use

EDIT: at a guess (and brief skim on Migweb and assuming its a 1400 16v) then a 2.0 8 valve flywheel and clutch setup

http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/engines-transmission/261869-small-block-f20-g-box.html heres the link

its actually a 1300 16v suzuki swift engine..

but my f13 bolts straight to it, using nova clutch, suzuki pressure plate..

same principle then, the engines all use the same mounting pattern so thats not a problem, just a case of swapping between the GM and Suzuki parts for the clutch and flywheel

The biggest problem i can see you having is the need for a bigger flywheel to match the "big block" clutch plate

okie doke, the reason for an f20 is because i can get a 5.1 cwp.. 5.1 may be too much acceleration though.

i did have a 4.5 but want something even quicker off the mark..

maybe a f13/f15 quiafe kit with a 4.8 would do?

does anybody know if a 5.1 CWP can be fitted into a f13/f15 box?

can't say i have heard of anything higher than a 4.53 for the smallblock gearboxes but doesnt mean you can't get them! May be worth speaking to Quaife

I thought you used the stock small block 200mm flywheel and cover plate with an Astra 1.7TD friction plate, which has the correct splines for the F20 box and is 190mm?

But do you have to use big block shafts and hubs and what about gearbox mount?

Gerbox mounts are standard nova. With a 12mm spacer on rear one.

And shafts, can use motorsport ones, with big hubs.

Or just gte22splined inners etc

Big Russ had a near 5.0 FD in his F15 iirc... talk to quaife, they will make you whatever you want lol

Anyone know the weight diff between the f13/15 and f20?

i know you can get a 4.8 cwp with a f13/f15 kit..

will this be the same kind of ratio as an f20 with a 5.1??

i would imagine the f20 gearboxes have different gear ratio's so the 5.1 will probably equal upto about the same as the 4.8 in a f13/f15?

or am i just talking a lot of rubbish? lol
