engine light + temp

the engine light on my 1.2i keeps cumming on once the engine heats up, more so when stood still and the fan is not switching on, temp gradually gets higher. first i thaught it was the thermal switch but changed it with 1 from a scrappy but it makes no differance, could this be another dodgy switch or something else?

Well test the switch! if you don't have test equipment do this....

switch, battery and bulb, connected with some handy pieces of wire...

Place switch by something hot - kitchen hob probably best. If the light comes on you've got a gudun!
