Killing time waiting for electrician, so just nosing some interesting articles on the future of international computer security
Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/columnists/concoughlin/8063120/Cyber-guards-or-soldiers-which-do-we-need-most.html)
'At the press of a mouse button, power stations, water firms, air traffic control and all government and financial systems are shut down. '
'At the click of a button', really?!
me things someones been watching too much 24.
Not being an expert in these systems i could be completly wrong but systems controling nuclear powerplans, water treatments, telephone exchanges etc have no business being connected to the public internet system. I would be willing to bet these are closed systems.
.....I wouldn't bet too much. Nuclear power systems accessible via the Internet? No comment. lol
Guardian (http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2010/oct/13/strategic-defence-review-cyber-security)
Interesting, especially considering the SDSR results are due soon, and MOD has for the past 5 years at least been hellbent on outsourcing pretty much all of its IT skillset - take all that into the context of China being a growing world superpower and their interest in computer attacking/disruption.
By the way, I could list a large numbers of users from this very site who have compromised email accounts, and probably PCs too, judging by the amount of crap I get in my hotmail inbox and on MSN lol
