View Full Version : The yoof of today, and other things that annoy me

Old man post alert. If you're under 21, probably even under 25, prepare to be offended.

Seriously, whats with kids these days? Every where I look, it seems kids are just one complete brain fart after another. Like today, I was about to turn into my road, the school kids walking along the path just stepped out and waltzed across in front of me. Sure, I expected it, so didn't have to slam on the brakes or anything, but its just the fact that not one of the three even cocked half an eye over their shoulder to see if a car might actually be about to use the small space of road they were stepping into. When I was a lad, the first thing my parents (and teachers) drummed into me was road safety. Sure you made the odd mistake when you're 5 or 6 or whatever, but the close shave with a car (or, in my case, tractor lol) and parental scolding soon taught you to look before you leap. Especially if you're about to slope out into a busy road.

Its not just that, even walking through town all I see is a vast ocean of complete dingbats trudging about their mediocre lives without the slightest hint of a spark up top. Language seems to be comprised of a series of grunts and urf noises, heck I can't even decipher any usable words - so I'm hardly surprised at the complete tripe that gets mashed out from a keyboard across forums, facebook, etc.

Yes, I'll be 30 soon. lol

The average IQ is definately declining.

But what do you expect? Half of the intelligent people in the world may well be in such a career where they dont have any children, alternatively said people will wait 'till they are in their 30's to have kids, and may spawn two.

Mr and Mrs Slob, on the other hand, bang out 3 or 4 benefit magnets before they even hit 25, and then may even bang out a few more later on to ensure the money doesn't run out. And lets face it, if your child is only there to ensure a flat or an income, why would you give a flying fcuk if they know how to cross a road. TBH if one got mowed down, there will be room for another kiddy in the house.

Those are not good odds, and IMO its the benefits system that is to blame. Hell, my sister 'in law' bangs a new kiddy into the world just before the previous one is about to start school, ensuring she can sit on her ass for another 5 years. I even overheard her saying that one more kid would entitle them to a house rather than a flat!

I will have a rant about most of the young people around, even people older than me. Im only 17 and I can see it, however my perants are quite old school IE they havent changed with the world LOL anyway Stepping into the road is what worrys me least about the younger people, its there genrual attitude to life. IT SUCKS most of the time!

Its not just kids though these days, the general opinion of people towards cars on the road seems to be 'meh, theyve got brakes'

Typical example, the dregs of society that sit outside sloths place of work doing nothing other than getting drunk on cheap lager all day long came walking down the road past my work today, about five or six trampy looking half cut blokes and one scraggly looking smackrat of a girl (probably all between 25-35) and wandered straight into the path of an oncoming car one held its hand up and shouted 'f**king stay there you' to the poor shocked old guy driving the oncoming honda, if that had been me i wouldve cogged it in the vectra and floored it, if its not clever enough to know to run/get out of the path of oncoming vehicles (i.e. an animal or small child) i will brake, if its too stupid to realise you dont f**k about in the road then i will not brake (i.e. people who chance it or try to command you to stop) :p

Going back to the kids are too stupid bit though, a few months ago i was asked to take a van we had in, out on roadtest as the workshop staff were too busy, big high top, long wheelbase master van, and as i was approching a sidestreet while i was out driving and i could see these three young-ish looking kids, maybe about 16-17, wandering up to the corner of the road i was turning into, not one of them looked and as i was already committed to making my turn i carried on and heard a resounding 'BONG' as one of them walked into the side panel of the van, i nearly crashed as i was pissing myself with laughter, cue lots of shouting and waving of fists which made me laugh even more, youve taken on about three tonnes of renault van, come off worse and im the 'masturbator' (obviously they didnt word it as eloquently as that though) it still makes me lol thinking about it now:thumb:

I was following a young lad on his bike in my village a few days ago, he was riding along the middle of the road slowly, completely oblivious to the fact that I was behind him. He then goes up onto the path on my left, so as I'm about to go past him, without looking he just goes straight across the road in front of me. I pressed the horn which I think frightened him, then yelled at him to get off the road.

I agree with what most people say here though, and I think benefits are partially to blame for the problem, as to many people kids are money and a house for free, so they don't particularly care about them getting a good education or what they get up to in their spare time and teaching them important things in life.

It's quite worrying that these kids are the future generation, half of them, their lives aren't worth living, their only going to have kids before 20 just like their parents did, and do nothing productive with their lives. I'm 18 and have been working full time since I left school, but many people I know have never worked a day in their life and don't have to pay board for living at home.

The problem isn't just people not looking out for cars, many cars on the road are a problem too. An example was from today, I did a drive shaft on a saxo vts, I saw the lad pick it up. Bearing in mind this was about 3pm and the entrance to a primary school is directly opposite work, he starts up the car, revs the **** out of it then proceeds to absolutely cain it out the junction and down the road, not even looking out for any kids. These are the people giving people other young drivers like me a bad name.

I lost faith in todays youth when I was still in my teens (I'm 21). I haven't time for gobby kids these days. I was talking to a colleague the other week, a 17 year old girl, who says she cannot wait to leave college simply because she hasn't got any patience with the immature and bitchy tossers who are there.

Anyone see the article in last weeks NOTW, about that 22yo girl who was a benefit fraudster and proud of it, she was quoted as saying "me and my mates go down the park, drink and laugh at workers on their lunch breaks"

Or probably what she actually said was: "yer me n ma bessie m8z go dwn 2 da prk n laff @ da fukin workaz LMAO ROFL"

Is this what it's come to? You get it ripped out of you for having a JOB?

Anyway, this girl is pretty much my age and it makes me sick when I see the amount of layabouts, wasters, BB wannabes etc who are also of my generation. My generation were bad enough, the next are probably worse..

You normally talk some sense, what happened in this post?,I have 2 kids,I have just turned 25.Both me and my mrs work. Both intelligent,Mrs has many A levels.
Not everyone has had kids to get benefits mate. And blaming benefits system for road sense is quite absurd lol
Ive seen fukktards in posh areas with no sense, and having lived on council estates and in nice areas,i would say its nice areas where they have no road sense as they get driven to the school gates every day,and arent allowed out of their houses most of the time so when will they ever get taught?!
Places where "benefit magnets" live, the kids are more streetwise and can cross roads.

That's true, and something that all drivers must remember. However, what a pedestrian must remember that althought the Highway Code gives you right of way over a moving vehicle, it doesn't give you right of way over the laws of physics, which state (and I'm paraphrasing here) "teenagers who are made of snot and Lynx Africa get hurt when they get hit by a ton and a half of Mondeo that's travelling at thirty miles per hour".

Im going to sound old here as im only 20, but too many youths are fully aware of the powers and rights they have, which allows them to get away with murder. Quite literally in some cases. A group of 5 lads were outside the shop opposite my house last night shouting abuse at passers by, people are too scared to do anything simply because it will be them that ends up in trouble.

I work 50 yards from a primary school in an area of "high unemployment" and the current generation of benefits scum are breeding the next generation of benefits scum and in my eyes should all be sterilised at birth as things are only going to get worse. And none of them know how to cross a road safely, and as said they all seem to have this "Well I can put a claim in..." mentality. Money is all that matters to some of them as the kids are running off 100 yards down the road from their single mothers but its the driver's fault if they run out into the road.

My boss hit a kid a few years ago outside a school, and was very lucky to have had two witnesses who put him in the clear. Is road safety even taught in schools any more?! The hedgehogs with the Green Cross Code were never off the telly when i was younger

What pisses me off is the little fcuktards that do actually see you, proceed to step out into the road whilst looking at you as if to say " ha ha go on...i dare you"......... this attitude just makes me put my foot down further.

Eeeekkk , after moving house and having no internet for 3 weeks i've not had chance to catch up on here properly, having read this i have just pissed myself..... Cheers Spud!!! lol

well, at least you could have waited for me before you started..........

kid on bike: chased one up a blokes driveway & pinned him against a wall... i was driving an L200 at the time, i guarantee he'll never upset me again...

when i was teaching my youngest to ride her first bike, 2 came up the path on their mountain bikes, saw us & decided to frighten us by riding straight at us... 15 stone of angry bloke really vs. youth & his bike after he got back up & straightened his handlebars, i gave him a bollocking...

round our way, its always 14-15yr old girls who simply walk out in front of everything... i don't know if its an ego thing or what.....

ii find that the youths hang around by our local co-op & generally annoy everyone in site, but they really can't cope with someone who tells them to tidy up all their beer cans, & wrappers, and when they tell me to 4 cough, i simply tell them to do it, at this point the gobby one always starts, so he gets special attention, and they always leave.. so i pick up the rubbish, and follow them home & give the rubbish to their parents telling them where i find it.. in my experience, the biggest prats are not from broken homes, or on benefits, but they are just trying to impress their mates.

i also pick up rubbish people chuck out at the traffic lights, and give it back to the usually shocked driver.....

The old 'muppets in the road syndrome' just happened again tonight, group of 3 (2 lads & a fat bird). The lad holding hands with the bird yanked her accross the road, but they decided to linger in the carriageway. I got closer & then felt the need to use the horn, she shat her pants & the lads both gave me hand gestures. Quite how I startled tham when it was dark (9:30pm) & I have my lights on I'll never know. This is on the A38 FFS, hardly a quiet road.

I dont have much input as i havent had that much experience on the road except for being a dangerous driver.

Another thing that fcuks me off, why do some people feel the need to honk their horn whenever they leave a person's house? "I've said my goodbyes, and in case you can't hear my ripspeed-embossed vehicle driving away with its cross section of industrial width drainpipe welded to the rear, I shall blast my horn an unecessary number of times as well"

I knocked a kid of about 12/13 off his MTB when I done an icey handbrake turn once. lol

I guess that one goes down as my fault lmao.

It's the same around here with them sauntering over the road and actually slowing down when they see a car as if it's some ludicrous game of chicken! I always make eye contact with them and generally give them time to pick up their pace, if they don't or slow down I then do the opposite. Foot further down to increase noise/speed. I remember some w$nker 16/17 y/o stopping dead in the road as his other three mates bailed. It was wet, so drop a cog and light the rear wheels at full throttle - yeah he moved and I 'won'. :/

GTF off the road! lol

If I borrow the old mans 4x4 with bull bars or am driving a van etc it's much more fun. I too have smashed a wing mirror because of some tool.

I always stay near the brake pedal though, as you just know there are the ones with zero common sense as opposed to not a lot that feel they have somethign to prove and just will not move.

Idiots! Also, it's not just kids! I appreciate some people are slower to cross etc. but they can still look! Young mothers with prams just sauntering out beggars belief.

Yeah, I get that a lot. People assume I'm one of the students (I work in a college) because I've got long hair and piercings. The fact that I'm 31, have a staff lanyard and can often be found teaching doesn't seem to give away the fact that actually I'm a tutor to some staff - even though I've worked there for two years.

That's pretty much how an actual conversation goes with her. She also likes to try making the weird smiley faces with her face too. It's highly amusing.

on the whole, the more 'fashionable' they were, the more obnoxious they were..

True. My Uni was full of them, male and female. Also why I rarely went on the gay scene - full of skinny, obnoxious, "fashionable" queens.
