View Full Version : Drive Other Cars & under 25

This is really annoying me, last year I went with Quinn Direct who gave me Drive Other Cars on my policy (only one that would).

Renewal is on the 17th of this month and they say they'll no longer give it to under 25s.

Any suggestions/tips/companies that will still give it?

i got it with sky, and did not even ask for it :)

HIC did it for me, for the last 2 years. Since I haven't put the nova on the road I do miss that perk!!

Edit... Stupid iPhone predictive text! I don't have aids

We can sometimes offer it for 23's and over but you need to make it clear you require this.

HIV did it for me, for the last 2 years. Since I haven't put the nova on the road I do miss that perk!!

HIV, are you positive? See what I did there? :plol:roll:

HIC could do it for nearly a grand, Sky couldn't do it unfortunately, and noone else I've tried will do it either. Gutted, looks like I'll lose it this year :(

Imagine giving me the keys to a type r, and leaving my 1.0 nova insured?

Put the type R in daddies name, and have a stupid fast car at 17!

Thats why its not available to under 25s usually...

More recently than that - CIS gave me drive any car on my old TPF&T policies on my Fiat and Nova around 1999.

Quinn gave DoC to everybody until January this year where they stopped it on under 25s. That's what the guy on the phone said when I asked about my renewal.

They fell over end of March 2010, but came back to the UK market about a month later. Albeit with more expensive premiums.

Thought they were the same as HIC, who would only give it to me for £950 - I wanted it but it's not worth doubling the policy!

Sorted a policy out with Elephant for £398 which is cheap enough I guess :)

sky are brokers though mate not the actual insurers as such so a company that may be cheapest for me and my area may not be the same for you hence they will organise it through a different company that proberly doesnt offer it

FPMSL lol
Have a look at insurance postcode risks, i think you'll find where you live is much worse than Stoke ;)
Some CV* postcodes are risk E (F is the highest)
Nowhere in the whole of Stoke is risk E.

That is all

EDIT-Just got off the phone from Sky, they cant do drive other cars 3rd party for people aged under 25

So my renewal monies shall be going elsewhere next week :)

As it stands, this facility has been taken away from us for under 25's. Things change fast in the insurance world.

Does drive any car on a TPF&T policy cost any extra? As I think I have it on the Nova.... I'm guessing I only really need it on one car, as the Celica and its FC policy has it.

Or is it just given as part of the course for being old etc

It gets thrown in as standard with most fully comp and TPFT polices for over 25 years olds who do not work in the motor trade.

Ollie, can you 'define' the motor trade....

eg does working for an OEM in the design/engineering area count.

Thats pretty vauge tbh.... I mean you could be an 'artist' and draw cars for a living and be classed as "motor trade"

I always thought 'motor trade' started from the Dealers and below. eg sales/maintenence/cleaning/repairs/tuners etc.

General Baxter

i repair HGV, thats could be classed as motor trade lol
