distributor and bottom end are both away on my nova and i cant find an engine anywhere to replace it so...i have a 13 at home with everything i need...

whats the best place, way to insure it?

if im right you declare the different engine asa modification under "non-standard engine"?

dont get me wrong im tempted to not tell a sole because i never rly drive fast for them to think it had a different engine in but....you know what police are like with young drivers! :(

cheers people!

It doesn't matter if you don't drive fast.

If you change the engine, you HAVE to declare it.

If not you'll get to meet Mr Big in prison.. Simple.

I had a converted 1300 nova as my first car, I insured it as a 1300 sr replica saying that it had had the engine, gearbox and interior out of a 1300 sr and obviously payed how much the 1300 sr would have been.

Not true.

It's 6 points for no insurance!

I asked a copper, and this is what he said.

The only non accident related thing you can go down for on the 1st offence is tax.

Tbh, I've had the bonnet popped on the nova afew times, and all they wanted to see was if there was a "k and n" filter.

Which there was, in the airbox lol

Upto you, but if you crash, there's a good chance you'll do afew months inside, the police are cracking down.

6 to 8 with a maximum fine of £5,000 and possibly a ban at court discretion. They could go after you for fraud if they so wished, as incorrect information on a V5 is fraud; obtaining an insurance policy "by deception" (i.e. not declaring modifications) is fraud, etc. But to be honest, thats unlikely.

And the only time I've been nobbled in the Nova, the first thing they checked was the engine. Swings and roundabouts, you may be "lucky" and get PC Dibble who knows nothing about cars, or you may get an ex-mechanic or a copper who has his finger on the pulse and knows what a different engine looks like.

Anyways. Yeah, you'd want the non-standard engine replacement - this will usually crap out an online quote, and you'll need to telephone the insurance company.
