View Full Version : Emotional journey (I nearly shed a tear)

I've just deposited the Flair (1.2 Nova) off at mates place. Probably the lasttime it will get driven & more importantly, possibly my last journey of any significance in a Nova of my own.

I went accross the levels (moors) to said destination & it was so pleasant. I've already had my new car for a couple days & am getting used to that, but jumping back in the old Nova again, for all it's faults I had a special drive in it today. The sun was shining, the air vents were blowing cool air in my face, windows down, tunes on. It was bliss, but I got that feeling that it might not happen again. :(

When that dawned on me I actually felt really sad. I'm really going to miss the kart like chuckability of Novas & the ease of driving. I've owned a Nova of some kind for the last 13 years. Nothing modern (or anything I'm likely to own) really posesses those qualities.

It's a real shame that 'Flair' will likely be getting broken & she's got so much life left in her, engine in particular & the shell is pretty good too.

Fairwell to Novas in a way!

I havent, but I dont reckon I'll build another & getting a quick blast in someone elses is never the same. Being in your own carefree time & roads is so far from up & back some bit of dual carriageway outside Billing or whatever.

Inclined to agree Mike, but the Civic is no match for a Nova in a roundabout. Or country lanes for that matter. :thumb:

True true, but youll soon learn to love them, proper capable little car given the right engine/spec (standard or even modified like).

I don't blame you for being emotional, Novas get under your skin...I know how you feel, similar to happened to me!

My Dad basically arranged to sell my old red Merit whilst I was at Uni because my brother was learning to drive and wanted something flashier. When the buyers came (in a red K-reg 3door 1.2i incidentally), the moment they drove off in my old car I actually broke down! And the replacement for it? A gutless 1.0 Corsa, written off by my brother 8 months later!

Can't see myself driving owt else for the foreseeable future.

But like many other ex-nova owners you are still here though! can't stay way from the nova in one way or another.

I miss the Novas I have sold, I couldn't not own one after all these years.

Hum. I was disappointed when I sold my old hatchback, but as soon as I stepped into the Celica I knew I'd made the right choice.

Even driving it now; yes the V6 is "fun", but the Celica just outclasses it in pretty much most respects. Including speed at the moment lol

I havent even lost the love, I just have no time, space or cash to have 2 cars, a build or whatever right now. As Edd says, I do have another shell & do intend to work on that when time allows. Who knows what will come of that.

For the time being I have something thats a little more flattering on a daily basis.
