Yeah it has to be a rep.
[edit] It wasnt a sport either. A reg plate makes that pretty obvious.
Interesting top mounts....
And lack of VIN plates ;)

It was never a Sport to start with. It was an SR and the parts were homologated for use on any Nova inc this one by the introduction of the Sport model run.
I noticed the top mounts, look like Mk2 Astra ones.
Jason Lepley broke the original car about 10-12 years ago and sold the ID on, unsure to who though. I rang him to try and get it after a mate of mine had the Hockley exhaust off it but he had already sold it :(
I would say its just a replica as there is no VIN plate. Oh and the shell is not of the correct age ;)

I dont think the rally car ever ran the airbox either.

Original or not, its a stunning car all the same
Each to there own I suppose, doesnt float my boat at all. Merely nothing but a fresh built rally car based on something that once was.

If original it would probably be the most sought after & most expensive Nova around.

Whether it's original or a replica, it doesn't matter! I think it looks great!
Are you going to rally it, or just use it as a show car?

That looks great. I would love a rally spec nova someday.

I used to run those top mounts on my old nova - sold to me as Nova Group 'N' roller bearing top mounts :)
Still got them on an old pair of spare struts

This car has been built with the full approval of the McRae family, its for show but has been built to as near to the exact spec when Colin used it. The car is built by someone who helped build Colins cars both when he started out and when he drove for Ford.
So i don't think they would put something together that was not correct or was within reason being correct.
I dont think anyone cares if its "correct" or not.

Very cool car and would love to see it one day :)

exactly the reason why colin didn't buy the car back, iirc it's in his book or one of his interviews he said it was offered to him but at an unreasonable price,
still it's good see a replica rather than nothing at all,

Needs some battle scars and some dirt to make it look authentic lol
Maybe some dents on the roof too
Again, very cool :thumb:

Probably Lepley, if its not the current owner. But you would at least SORN it if they know what they have.

Looks very well done I have heard that they are going to be showing alot of the mcrae cars in the new transport museum in Glasgow when it opens next year so this may end up in there.

Would be a real shame for it to be locked away in a museum!
Needs to be somewhere where it will be run, gently round a track for all to enjoy!
Why is it a 1.2 though, its got the 1200 dizzy on it:wtf:

he has a brake light out lol
Number plates have a different style or lettering in that video aswell,
Along with the bootlid on the video has no holes for the wiper or washer nozzle
And it has white mudflaps on all 4 wheelarches, not juse 2 blue on the front
And the windscreen on the replica had a tint on the top, whereas the original doesnt :p
And in that video. it looks to have black wing mirror blanks on both sides, whereas on the "replica" its got a later spec mk1/mk2 mirror on the o/s, and on the n/s, a white blank/welded plate
Little things like that... means im utter sad lol

It is a replica, I spoke to the bloke who built it at chatsworth who said he was asked to build to show. Absolutly none of the parts are original the shell was purchase at an auction I think he said. he had a deadline of only three minth to build it.
the 'original' would be in a very sorry condition, cos in day, the original ended up on its roof 50% of the time......i'd be surprised if the original was even original...

The original was a ringer anyway as it used to be a Y reg! Jason Lepley bought the car, broke it for spares and sold the ID about eight to ten years ago
