Thin on the ground now these, an IMO down on power given the engine size & motorsport heritage.

I really want to buy one, by the time the nova is finished id be able to insure one.

There used to be a nice one round here with a big square spoiler, those dish amg rims and it was all dark metalic grey and lowered, absolutely gorgeous thats how i want it.

Just looked on pistons heads for Merc Evo 2's, saw two and one is up for £41,000 the other £60,000. Didn't realise they held their price that well.

Evo IIs are very rare and very sexy.

Normal Merc Cossies don't fetch much at all.

Unless you have lots of money to spend then you will have to keep dreaming, prices on these are getting silly. However there was a cheap one at a garage not to far from me, They seem to like the rot as well!

Plenty of Merc Cossies on piston heads for a couple of grand, ok not plenty but 4 on at the minute one for £8500 one just sold for £2750 a "highly modified" one for £2500 and a spares and repairs for £1500, so these Cosworth ones cant be all that.

No you can pick them up fairly cheap, They are not that good anyway.
However the Evo IIs are not cheap and you wont fine one for chips!

Lush back in the day but no doubt utterly gash compared with modern day machinery.

My mate had a Gold one, it used to crack manifolds for a passtime. Lovely lookers though & beautiful Recaro's inside. Very stealthy, most people wouldnt know they've seen one.

surely buying a 190, lowering it & bodykitting it, followed by a nice big e class engine would also do the trick......old ordinary mercs are cheap

LEWI007
10-10-10, 02:20 PM
Yeah i thought about buying a normal 190E and doing it into a cossie looker, but if its only like 2grand for a proper cossie id just buy a proper one and mint it up.

Yep, lovely cars in their day,.........but there are so many BETTER cars around for peanuts these days.

I'm not familiar with these, do they have different suspension to the normal 190e?

Class cars theres one of those evo ones next to mine :)

Angus Closier
10-10-10, 03:14 PM
The rebuild costs would be silly, and at the end of the day for the money you had spent you could have a much nicer car. Fine they look nice but Id be swaying to a diff option!

LEWI007
10-10-10, 03:31 PM
I wouldnt full rebuild just respray and a little service.

Something to use as a daily so i could keep the nova immaculate in the garage

How old are you? They are not going to be cheap to run and insure which is a big thing to think about if your young.
They rust aswell, from what iv seen quite badly around where the body kit is fitted (arches/sills etc)

ive driven a merc cos and im not impressed, engine is a 2.3 that only puts out 185bhp and the car really aint that good, even the evo models are only between 200 and 230bhp, if i was to buy a cosworth itd have to be a proper one escort or sierra, preferably a 3 door rs 500
i can always dream lol

****. we had a pink one at the breakers i worked at, been used in a ram raid so the boot was fooked, but it still drove. it was slow and not impressive at all. i think a decent carlton gsi 24v would had ran away from it. the gears were agricultural and the steering heavy.

Lewi these drive absolutely dog like, my mate has an 190 with all the cosworth bits on (bought one salvage due to be conviscated down to drugs lol)
Has an aftermarket bonnet/grill other than that has everything original, even the shonky 2.3 lol. IMO looks good, and thats about it, and is also a common target for traffic police lol

They don't look right, don't sound right and don't drive right. After having the displeasure of working on and driving one recently(and not for the first time) it was a bit of a let down for an "iconic" 90's motor.

buy that one limp posted, and this v8 up here for £150 and kill most things. :d
