How much would a good value respray cost?

Ive been given quotes from £500 to £1500.

I have a nova SR, all I want is that its resprayed in white, nothing fancy.

Cheers

£500 spray job will be a mask up of everything and quick hit with paint probably - The £1500 one will probably be a bit more detailed with stuff removed and all painted properly :)

with paint jobs you pay for what you get really, unless you know mates that can do it.

P.s seen you monday driving into work lol

With all the bad stories on here and elsewhere from people who have had nothing but trouble with body shops and getting their cars sprayed, I would be looking for a good reputation as much as a good price.

Strip it down yourself and have a good idea what you want done, nothing worse IMO than giving a car to a paint shop and saying paint this, willleave you looking at it thinking 'that could be better

If it's a SR you'll want the rear windows out and the surrounds doors stripped etc

£500 won't look good IMO as Vaughan says it'll be masked up job

What he said ^

I stripped mine down. My mate (who works in a bodyshop) helped me do the basic prep. I spoke nicely to my old boss and had it painted there £900 IIRC. BUT thats mates rates. Probably over a £1000 to anyone else. Good job done too.

All thanks for the answers, they have given me a better idea about resprays.

Also check out some of thier work. Get an idea of what standards of finish they can give.

And tell them what you expect, most bodyshops will think a Nova only needs a mediocre paint job at best. If you want it to polish in a field at car shows, show them pics of Benn's or Nick J's car so they get the idea that you are an enthusiast.

That way they might change their mind from quoting £900 & say yeah it's more like £1200, but you will more than likely be satisfied with the end result.

Strip as much as you can & definately remove anything from the car you dont want ruined (dash boards, steering wheel, carpets, seatbelts......) bodyshops have a habit of ruining everything with filler dust & overspray.:thumb:
