Morning...

Got a trackday booked for Monday 25th October, anyone in and around midlands or S E, fancy lending me one for beer tokens?! Early start on the Monday, and the rental company have told me I'd need to rent it all weekend as well...!

Cheers
chris

You don't require it, as long as the weights add up... After an long chat to the dvla yesterday, the Saab weighs enough so I'm all good, and the combined weight doesn't exceed the limit of 3500kg.

dose your car and trailer weigh over 750kg, because ive been told a test is needed , traffic police kindly pointed it out to me, and that my insurance would be void if caught towing.

I think my braked towing weight on the Saab is 1400ish kg. So aslong as that plus the car doesn't exceed 3500kg limit it's ok.

Category B vehicles may be coupled with a trailer up to 750kgs MAM (allowing a combined weight up to 4.25 tonnes MAM) or a trailer over 750kgs MAM provided the MAM of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the towing vehicle, and the combination does not exceed 3.5 tonnes MAM.

As the dvla said, I'll be fine. Aslong as you don't exceed the braked towing weight of the car, you can find this for most modern cars on parkers.

Nova weighs 750-800kg so will be ok as long as I don't put more weight on the trailer. Will have to fill the car instead.

The MAM of the trailer must not exceed the unladen weight of the vehicle.

The MAM of the trailer and MAM of the car combined must not exceed 3500kgs.

Its simple.

Also if the MAM of the trailer is over 750kgs the trailer must be braked.

That is it.

Nova weight doesnt come into it unless you overload the trailer, which a nova wont do. Its all down to the MAM.
